Dubois Lines and Explanations

Created by: johnnyu22

Description
Wheeler appears to have either lost a step or be starting slow - he needs a kick, and perhaps that comes with a change of scenery. With only 4 right handed shots in the lineup and a lack of chemistry of late between 26 and 55, lets break them up.

The new first line promotes Ehlers, who has arguably been the best player on the Jets thus far, and gives him more ice time.

The second line works to introduce Dubois with Wheeler and also promotes Copp to a higher ice time role. This could be the making of a perfect two-way line. A true playoff style line.

The third line becomes interesting, as well. Lowry gets to play with Stastny and Appleton, so offense can produce, and defence will be a premium. A great shut down line that can chip in.

The fourth line (assuming everyone is healthy) could be a mix, and this is just one possible iteration.

What do the Jets need in order to make this deep forward group able to carry the Jets on a run? Is a top D still a necessity, and would it justify trading a pick and a top prospect if the right player is on the table?

I wonder what the breaking point is to shift that top line. Hopefully Dubois is used effectively.
I also like the idea of Stas playing with Wheeler at some point.

I’d have to say we are likely close to that top line being broken apart. They’ve been rather flat all season thus far and Ehlers deserves to play more minutes. And sure, Stas could easily flip-flop with Copp in this lineup iteration, but I kind of like the idea of Dubois coming in and driving this line because it does two things - gives Wheelers a chance to generate new chemistry, which could get him going, and it also allows Copp to play more big line minutes. I get the allure of a Wheeler Stastny combination, but I don’t see it working with what it leaves. I don’t see Copp as a third liner anymore.

I prefer to see Dubois and Ehlers create magic. Add Copp to that line

Maurice said the Ehlers get less ice time because the Scheifele and Lowry line take the tough matchups, leaving the other team exposed when Ehlers is out there. It’s working perfectly so idk why you mess with it.

I’d like to see PLD with Ehlers for sure, Copp and Lowry have deserved the ice time they are seeing so far
