How about no from the. Nico sturm is a really good 3rd / 4th line c who also can play bottom wing & be really good at it along with being good.

Minnesota isn't giving up a 2nd round pick for Bennett

The year of the pick is key. Minneosta is doing pretty well so far and your probability of getting a good player in late rounds this year equate to pulling from a hat. A late pick in a up in the air draft? Not nearly as valuable as most years.

Sturm and 2022 3rd would be the Flames counter.

Minnesota isn't trading sturm. Sturm has been ridiculously good, & has helped steered nick bjugstad in the good direction also.

Sorry, again Bennett is more expensive, & isn't better than bjustad or sturm. Calgary would be lucky to even get a 4th round pick for a player who required trade & hadn't been playing.

Bennett is closer to MarJo (retained salary if needed) 1-for-1. I look at him as a guy who might not be QOed this offseason. He's played enough games that he is what he is as a player at this point: an o-zone bottom-6er, that shows up for the Playoffs. The only reason I'd be okay with taking a chance on Bennett is because I think him and Hartman on a line together would be fun to watch.

I wouldn't do Sturm 1-for-1, let alone add anything. Sturm (it's his 2nd pro season) is still getting acclimated to the NHL, but the 2-way low 3C/high 4C game is there if he can put it together.

I like Sam Bennett, but I wouldn’t give Sturm OR a 2nd for him...weak draft or not.
I would, however, gladly retain on Bjugstsd, and/or Johansson, and/or Bonino, and/or Rask for him. Heck, you can pick any 2 of those players and I’ll throw in a 4th just to say thank you!
