Description

The injuries are really piling up and it’s reminded for me a lot of last season.
I don’t know why this is but this has to change, maybe replace the strength staff or something.
Also I don’t really know what Mackinnon’s status is but hopefully he can come back soon, same with Toews.
And the Avalanche have no cap space so someone has to go on LTIR, I’m guessing either Calvert or Bellemare.

i think toews was just a swollen foot, probily couldn't get the skate on without being really uncomfortable. I'd assume he's back for tuesday. Johnson and mack who knows though. Johnson is probily done for a bit after smashing his jaw off the ice, and i didn't even see what happened to mack so who knows with him. But i don't know if belly will be coming back anytime soon, he might be done and calvert has head issues so if he comes back will he even be the same player. Not at all how you want the season to start.

Players can only be put on LTIR if a doctor rules them out for at least 24 days. If Calvert is day-to-day or week-to-week it's unlikely that the NHL (or rather, the NHLPA) would approve of him being put on LTIR.

As for your comment about replacing the strength coaches, the injuries this team is suffering aren't muscular injuries, so blaming the physio's isn't really valid. Bellemare hurt his knee in a collision; Toews got hit in the foot with a puck; Calvert got hit in the head with a puck and has history with concussions; and Johnson hit his face in the ice and likely has a concussion. None of those are down to bad training. We don't know what's wrong with Francouz or Mackinnon but Francouz had hip surgery and Mackinnon seemed to be moving fine all game yesterday so they don't seem to be muscle related injuries either.

100% agree with Richard88

I think this is just a series of unfortunate events. I doubt any amount of training could prevent the current injuries based on what we know. The back to backs, do play a part I am sure.

I would suspect Johnson, Toews, and Mckinnon to be back in no time. We have a pretty deep lineup with is a huge benefit.

It is hard to really know with any of these players because not much has come out.
