Initial Creation Date: Feb. 1, 2021
Published: Feb. 1, 2021

Description
Would it be as simple as adding a first? I think I'd be willing to throw in anothe lottery ticket prospect if need be, I think Rakell is perfect for the Flames line up.

Great deal I think, would help Calgary, I love Bennett but I love Rakell too, plus Anaheim's going nowhere.

What's Bennet's actual value? he's an RFA after the season ends and would need to be offered more than his 2.5 in the offseason. Basically the Ducks would be sending Rackel for a first and the rights to Bennet at no lower than 3.5 AAV for next year. Plus he would need to quarantine for 14 days so they might only get him for 35 games plus

You’d need to add a prospect. As @masterjuddi said above me, Calgary is basically sending the rights to Benett and he won’t even get more than 35 games if even that.

Not asking for a high caliber level like Pelletier or Zary. But like a solid B prospect.

I wholeheartedly support this deal as a fantasy owner of Rakell.

...he says as his team sits with the exact same record as Anaheim had through 7 games...

But sure. I'd bank on that pick being a lotto pick, plus if you send a B prospect, I'd have no problem as a Ducks fan with pulling the trigger on it.

Fair enough on the prospect front, I wonder if a guy like Kylingotn would entice them or if they'd want someone a little more raw that can work with their upcoming core. To your point on the Flames having a lottery pick, they're in the easiest division in hockey, they would have to out perform three of Ottawa, Edmonton, Vancouver, Winnipeg, they'll make the playoffs but whoever comes out of the Canadian division will be lucky to play four games in the final four.

Yeah but its doesnt represent well, Calgary is in win now mode and Anaheim is in rebuild mode. Calgary had a couple of bad games but I think they are trending in the right direction. The last two games against the blues, the ducks got rattled. I love their young guns tho

Been following him closely since the draft, hard guy not to cheer for but definitely a piece that likely gets thrown in a deal like this.

Kylington wouldn't do it for me...they could have had him for nothing a few weeks ago, and they're overloaded at LD. Little Zavgorodny is probably too much to ask for though, eh?

Meh, I'd say "re-tool mode" before I'd say "rebuild". Elite goaltending, a d-core that is very good when healthy. All they're really missing is a couple of guys who can produce offensively, including a guy who can drive the play...if only they had such a player currently in their system, waiting patiently to be called up...Otherwise, they might as well be selling off Gibby, Hampus, Manson, Shatty, Rakell, etc.

That was my thought as well, I think Zavgorodny would be a touch too much but if that's the case maybe Anaheim returns a 5th/6th, I like the suggestion of Jake Boltmann above, I don't know if Calgary is prepard to move a right shot D out of the system though. Yan Kuznetsov comes to mind but his ceiling is much higher than Boltmann's, interesting deal for sure and I think the pieces are there to benefit both teams.
