Bennett is not even godd in a bottom 6 role. Lekhonen is outstanding on the pk and does pretty well on a 3rd/4th. Why would we trade for Bennett and lose even more cap space

Sam Bennett is not so bad. I think he could makes 40 points in a real season. Calgary is just not a god fit for him. Remember his first real season he end up with 36 points in 77 games.

Age : Same
Caphit: Lehkonen is a bit cheaper.
Point productivity: Same (10-15G, 10-15A)
Defence awareness : Lehkonen by a mile.
Attitude : Bennett asked for a trade because because he is not in the top 6. Lehkonen does his job even if he went from the 3rd line to the 4th line.

Why on earth would MTL make that deal?

Bennett can play LW/C ... you never have too much C in a team... what are you doing if you lost Suzuki/KK in the same game? I think it's an interesting upgrade to have more options if we have injuries (I really don't want it but we never know!).

Depth. Depth is the work you are looking for.

You could ask the same question about every position.

It's a good thing Habs have Depth with Danault, Evans, Poehling and Vejdemo... No need for Bennett.
