Subban is also bad. Not to mention the fact the Oilers would be down another goalie for 2 weeks while Malcom’s in quarantine.

Chicago can't believe their luck. They might accept just a 3rd

Holy.

Chia, is that you? Maybe it's Millbury...

Bringing back Chiasson is enough of an unforced error.

Then you sign Barrie AND Larsson? I could see Larsson signing that deal but highly doubt Barrie takes another discount, let alone for term.

But stop the presses.

What on earth has you thinking Skinner is A) anything other than our fourth string goalie, who's actually working to establish himself at the AHL level but forced to play all of one game due to Holland waiving Forsberg, and B) trade bait requiring a 1st (!) and a 3rd for Subban, of all people? Why wouldn't you just sign a UFA goalie; literally any goalie? Hell, even Konovalov has a better shot next year at being backup for Koskinen.

Wow.

PS

Nuge isn't resigning for less than he's making now. Like, do you even follow the team? LOL. Must be trolling...

Huge overpay for Subban. Hawks accept. Lankinen is looking great and hawks will take that first for their backup and Delia can backup now.

Honest question to EDM fans. Is it even the goalie that's the problem? I mean for a team that's 3rd in goals scored and 2nd in shots taken, BUT still has a 47.3% Corsi means to me that there isn't a lot of commitment to playing a 2-way game. AND that doesn't just fall on the Dmen, but also the bottom 6 forward group.

LOL on what planet is Subban worth a 1st. I would not give anymore than a 5th rounder for him. And Im not even being dramatic. He's an AHL goalie who in the league because Chicago has no other goalies. Thats all there is to it.

Would he even get claimed if waived?

No.

Our 4th string goalie isn't the problem.

There are a number of new players settling in, and as you mentioned the bottom six is (again) beyond abysmal. Once the defense pairings start to gel and we get a healthy backup goalie (Smith) we won't be over working Koskinen, so he should revert to his norm -- a league average goalie.

This might sound like overkill, but with COVID and teams needing depth. Do you think EDM should go out and get a couple of PKers and Bottom 6 guys that are only focused on defense/possession? Stopping the opponents top line and winning draws?

Me personally?

No.

Skill wins games. Playing keep away or (worse yet) the trap is a foolish way to play the game. And if you have a bunch of offence optional players then they're bound to be burned eventually and unable to score in response.

We need some better performances from the likes of the personnel here already. If the bottom six can revert to their established norms we'll be fine.

Otherwise we get a good bit of cap space available, for the first time in Holland's tenure, to do some serious roster revisions next season.
