Dorion needs to take DJ's toys away. If DJ doesn't want to play young guys like Brannstrom, you have to force the issue. This isn't DJ Smith's team.

Chlapik can be a good bottom 6 guy similar to Barbashev but more of a 4th liner. If only they’d stop playing Paquette. Logan Brown needs to work on a few things but the offence is there. He’s gonna be up by the deadline imo. I still think he has all the tools to be a 50-60pt centre. Colin White got thrown in the dog house for no reason and is now playing in the top 9 and showing he’s one of our best players the last few games. I guess they were just sending a message to the team that even if you have a long contract , you still have to be ready and you have to produce and earn your spot

There was a video of Stuetzle taking face off practice, so I’m liking the Stuetzle/White pairing and letting Paul play his checking role.

He hasn't been given much of an opportunity, mostly playing under 10 minutes at the NHL level, but he's looked very good. He plays hard on the forecheck, can play C or W, can bring more skill to the 4th line. Analytically, he was one of the better Defensive forwards in the NHL last year (granted in a limited sample size). There's basically no way he's not at least the 12th best forward available for Ottawa, he should be playing. I think he's in a similar position to where Nick Paul was under Guy Boucher. He was clearly NHL ready, even then, but for whatever reason, the coach just wouldn't play him. I think Chlapik will have his breakthrough at some point, I just hope it can be with this team.

As for White, he's been great. DJ wanted to send him a wakeup call to start the season (DJ wasn't impressed with White's effort during team scrimmages at camp), and that's why he was getting scratched. That seems to be done with now, as White has spent the last few games as the 2nd Line C, and he's looked great. He's been energized, he's been generating chances, he's been able to be consistently noticeable in a positive way when the Sens are getting carved every night.

It's good to get him working on his faceoffs, but it's going to be a while before he ever plays C. The whole team needs to be better in the dots though. Stepan is the only regular C at 50% on draws. That's the one issue I have with White. I think he's playing really well as a C right now, but 33% is not good enough.
