Congrats Shea

Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 2, 2021
Published: Feb. 2, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Truly one of the legends of our era. Probably the 2nd best shutdown d-man of his era, only behind Chara.

It's laughable to me that he doesn't have a Norris yet. He should've had 2-3 by now.

Also, I just want to take this moment to laugh at anyone who thought MTL lost the trade... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...

No personal attack here, I'm just calling out and «mocking» a bunch of people as a whole ;)

The biggest surprise to me has been how he doesn't seem to decline much, especially compared to Subban.

to be fair, nearly every norris from 2011-2017 shoulda gone to ek65 lol, but the way the norris seems to go to a guy that’s very good and has waited a while for it, it’s pretty absurd that he doesn’t have one

His style of play doesn't decline that much, just look at Z and Pronger

Does it really shock you he doesn’t have a Norris? Early in his career he had Lidstrom & Chara. Then the Norris became about point totals for whatever odd reason. He was fun to watch in Smashville with Suter minus throwing Hank into the wall head first.

I’m not a Habs fan one bit. But at the time it was a risky trade. Subban was a lights out electric player in Montreal. He continued that in Nashville for a few seasons. Then he declined like crazy. Weber still has many years to his contract. So we will see how the last few look. But yes. He is still an elite d man. I still think Subban would have been a better player in a high profile market like Montreal Boston or Toronto.

THe NHL should split the Norris in 2:
      1st trophy:
Norris trophy, awarded to the d-man who demonstrated the best defensive skills
Bobby Orr trophy, awarded to the d-man who demonstrated the best offensive skills

I like the idea of two separate trophies personally as when I see some Norris nominations/winners it belittles the trophy into who has the best fourth forward.

There's still a case to be made Nashville won this trade. Subban helped Nashville to the cup finals. Weber has not had the same help in Montreal, plus he's older, slower, and his contract is going to kill both teams when he retires due to the recapture penalty. I don't think anyone lost the trade, just... worked well for both teams in their immediate goals.
