That’s not getting you him, especially with their current injuries and cap situation

Why would Colorado do that?

I do too. Will have to wait until the offseason when they have to move someone so they don't lose them for nothing to Seattle.

Even if Colorado were to make this trade we'd lose a good player to Seattle anyways. Just lose Graves and be done with it.

If Avs were to move him pre-expansion though then this trade wouldn't be it, as it does absolutely nothing for Colorado. 2nd + 3rd or thereabouts might get it done at that point, but it would be dependent on Avs actually having another Dman to expose.

If we loose Graves now like @Richard88 said we most likely would loose another unnecessary player in the league expansion draft.

Graves is sorta like bait for Seattle and I think that Sakic is ready for Graves to leave and already planning ahead.

Depends if Seabrook would waive his NMC lol

If Chicago want Graves they're probably best off waiting until after the Expansion Draft and trading either with Colorado or with Seattle. If Seattle do what Vegas did and stock up on Dmen for draft capital then they'll likely have some Dmen available, including Graves possibly.

this trade isn't it, but Dehaan going back gives them a replacement D man this year and someone they can leave unprotected from seattle

Colorado actually need Seattle to take a $3m contract for cap reasons so losing Graves would be beneficial in many ways.

Not if you can convince them to take someone else, ie pay a mid pick (3rd/4th) and a bottom 6 guy like Hagel or Highmore to take a guy like Kampf, Carpenter, or other depth pieces. That are serviceable but not crucial

Not sure a mid round pick is enough to steer Seattle away from a Dman. Dmen are way more valuable than bottom 6 forwards, which is why Vegas loaded up on D in their expansion draft.
