No chance bud. You'd need to add a significant piece to that deal. He lead the entire NHL in playoff scoring and could be most teams #1 center.

??? What ??? That's the whole point of adding him is to play him at 1C. Significant piece? Is Neal not one? Ribeiro adds to the Sharks depth. I get that Couture is a 1C but these trades would be for needs. The first also adds to that.

I'll break it down: Let's say that...

Couture: A
WIngels: C (He's a cap dump, but he's good enough to play 3rd/4th line)

for

Neal: B+/A-
Ribeiro: B-/B
1st: ?

I get that if you're trading Couture, you would think that adding prospects and what not or another "known" superstar would have to be going the other way. But this is a purely need trade for both teams. All players fit the team systems. And Neal is a quiet star. Puts up a respectable amount of points. But he's a pure sniper that would benefit the Sharks greatly.

Got to agree with Alex. Couture being a center and a good one to boot would require a major return. Neal is pretty darn good but as the main piece is not good enough. Ribeiro adds very little value to the deal too. Same for Wingels. So its basically Couture for Neal and a 1st. If its me, I'd keep Couture. I'd trade Couture for only a handful from Nashville. Neal not being one of them.

Ok well I probably should stated this before but value wise you guys are right when saying that Neal isn't enough. Though he would be the main piece in that trade because you'd have to imagine the Sharks asking for either Forsberg or Neal coming back as a main piece, and obviously it would be Neal. The Sharks are looking for scoring wingers, and with Pavelski in the helm ( Thornton is too old to play C imo), and a couple of good prospects, they can start looking to trade Couture for a sniper. There aren't many pure snipers in the league now as you can tell, but value wise I do think that might not be enough as you guys previously stated but this trade is really for needs on both ends.

@F50marco:

Aside from Dman (because they don't need them), who would you think would be going back the other way? Like, Forsberg is I would have to think untouchable in this scenario, Arvidsson is too young to be anything but a main piece and I don't think the Preds would want him going as a 'side piece' because then they would have to get rid of a superstar/ and a potential elite player. Johansen wouldn't make any sense because you might as well keep Couture. So then what Wilson? No. Smith? No. You'd have to give up a Dman and I don't think the Sharks are looking for a top 2 defensemen.
