I don't know if Raymond or Berggren will be ready next year, I hope so but I doubt it. I try to keep up with how the prospects are doing but I'm not a scout. Veleno has more development time under his belt and might be ready for a 3rd line center role & could move fabbri up to 2c. Maybe. I like this team

Step 1. Someone suggests DeAngelo.
Step 2. Immediately dismiss the entire post as garbage.

i would just take the free second then buy him out, but its not worth it for us to add the second anyway we could just let him sit at home and buy him out at the end of the season

Fair point. I just think someone should put a note in the comments like "Take him on to send him to purgatory for a couple seasons, to accrue assets", then I'd be more open to it.

I think adding a legit top 6 forward in free agency might be a good idea but it'd have to be 3-4 years instead of 6. Something similar to the Dadonov signing last offseason. Some names that come to mind other than Danault are Tatar, Saad, and Schwartz (I assume most if not all of those guys would just resign though).

I think Berggren is closer than Raymond but they will both need some time in the AHL.

Yzerman traded him to AZ for a 2nd round pick about 2 yrs after he was drafted. Before he even had a chance to play a single game for TB. Why did Yzerman trade him for a loss?

They dont need the cap this year but for a 2nd round you got 1/3 of Deangelo cap hit on your cap on 2year (300k ish next year 800k ish the other) its very not that bad , look at Staal we took him at 5.7m for a 2nd round pick... Deangelo isnt going to play with anyone

It's not about the cap hit or the return, he is a cancer you don't want that in your locker room.
