Why Bennett Gets Traded Today

Created by: SmugTkachuk
Team: 2020-21 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 4, 2021
Published: Feb. 4, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Coaches decision to sit him tonight doesn't make a ton of sense, he's played his best two games of the year in the last couple against the Jets.

The Flames next five games are in a ten day period against the Canucks and the Oilers both of which have only looked good against the Senators and each other, good chance to pick up some points with a roster piece quarantining for at least 10 days as per the rules in Alberta.

The piece returning in the deal then slots in the line up fresh off a 2 games in 2 nights against the physical Oilers to play the quick skilled Leafs. Today makes too much sense for it not to happen, the lukewarm stove is warming fellas!

Oilers fans should be thanking me for throwing in a 7th.

The Toronto Maple Leafs, Anaheim Ducks, and Carolina Hurricanes are the teams speculated to be interested in Sam Bennett, according to the Fourth Period

Does the fourth period get stuff right often? Haven't heard a bunch about them

Amen, just trying to keep it civil on the site. We all know what goes on behind closed doors though, McDavid is flown to Calgary every game day to tie Bennett's skates. He will be serving him hot dogs in the press box tonight

They are very reliable, as Elliotte Friedman referenced David Pagnotta / The Fourth Period before. They got a lot of trades correct, and signings during the 2020 Free Agency

Not hard to name teams who "need" "can afford" "have inquired before" on a list and likely get it right... even a blind squirrel can find an acorn

I think the only way Calgary takes him on is at a retained salary or they're looking for another piece from NYR, neither of which I think happens.

Compher is the better player, you think you can get compher plus a pick especially considering how hated Bennett is by the avs for his 2 late hits injuringcompher and girard before

You can keep that trash can

        "McKenzie names Calgary"
        "Bennett getting scratched"
        "DeAneglo trade coming"

I was piecing it all together (maps, photos, strings on the wall).

Thought I nailed. I'll get 'em next time.

Pretty similar PPG, Bennett is a better playoff performer, the rest sounds like fan issues which are great big nothing burgers.

Don't mind that at all, right shot, big body hopefully catches fire where Bennett should have.

I would consider giving JV a shot at Leivo's position with Johnny and Mony.

I think Avs would accept. Bennett is a weapon in the playoffs, and this also gets the Avs out of 2 years of Compher's contract.

He is also a moron who tried to goat people into after the whistle stuff and just ended up goign to the box himself.
Hes not a smart hockey player, flame fans can agree with that, low hockey IQ is why he will never be more than a tough guy bottom 6er. Avs dont need dumb hockey players on the team, especially ones that are not good defensibly in the bottom 6 either

I think MN would be interested in Bennett. Not sure what they can offer up for players with COVID just hitting their team. Bonino or MarJo would have worked before, but they just tested positive. Anyone else with the team could test positive in the next couple of days.

Pretty similar PPG, Bennett is a better playoff performer, the rest sounds like fan issues which are great big nothing burgers.

Bennet is poor defensively, takes a lot of Penalties, doesn't PK, cant play him in the PP, and is just a winger
There is reason why, he has low hockey IQ

He is also a moron who tried to goat people into after the whistle stuff and just ended up goign to the box himself.
Hes not a smart hockey player, flame fans can agree with that, low hockey IQ is why he will never be more than a tough guy bottom 6er. Avs dont need dumb hockey players on the team, especially ones that are not good defensibly in the bottom 6 either

Hahaha you sound like Bennett slept with your wife at some point.
He draws a lot of penalties and take bad ones in the O zone a little more than people would like. Watch any junior highlight he has and when he is on his game he is a really smart hockey player and that extremely clear to anyone who as watched him as opposed to having a full diaper about him like you do. He is extremely valuable to the Avs in the playoffs whether you like it or not.

I would consider giving JV a shot at Leivo's position with Johnny and Mony.

Personally I think that is just rinsing and repeating what we tried with Bennett that didn't work.

This isnt junior hockey anymore, he can not process the game at a high enough level to be more than a bottom 6/4th liner in the NHL. and one that takes as many penalties that he does and cant play special teams as a pure winger, he is not an adaptable hockey player, he is a guy who goons it up looking for a spark, like you said takes bad ones in the Ozone. That is not a smart NHL hockey player.

He stinks and lets not pretend like hes anything more than a limited role player.

So you're saying he's going to fit right in on this year's Wild team?
