Pittsburgh can use defense depth, and this gives them options to replace Daley when he leaves as a free agent.

Additional Details:

Dallas needs a goalie. It should either be Fleury or Bishop that they target, and Fleury would take less to give up. While it's a pretty penny none the less, a #1 goalie is worth two young defensemen.

Dallas is not parting with both Honka and Lindell.

At this point, Pens would be lucky to get Niemi with some retained salary and a late round pick. Dallas is not parting ways with either of those prospects, especially not Honka who is one of the better d prospects in the league.

I think the Pens will have to take Lehtonen back in a trade with Dallas.. that would establish that Dallas is definitely getting an upgrade at the position (Niemi and Fleury's stats are similar this year). If DAL would retain a little salary and send Honka, the deal would be great IMO

Niemi and Fleury's stats may be similar this year but i do not think you can seriously make an arguement that Fleury isn't a big upgrade over either Dallas netminder.
