Whywould Calgary not do this? I have no idea about Thompson but Bennett alone for a second is good in my books..

If Chicago would trade Murphy, it wont be for a first, so what do you think is a good trade?

Wrong, he's a first liner on a number of teams and a second liner on almost all teams with only a $3.8M cap hit; he's worth a first all day long.

It would definitely be a first from a playoff team... not a late second. This is an underpayment for a top 4 D on a good contract

Im just thinking of the market...it may but it seemed like last years TDL, 1st were hard to come by. I personally wouldnt care exactly if thats the market but...

I frankly think Murphy stays. I highly doubt the Hawks would move him for a late 1st, he's too good for his cost and the 2021 first round draft is not deep at all with a steep fall off at around pick 10.

He’s also under contract for two years, and a value of a player isn’t based on only what happened last deadline. The most comparable deal would be Alec Martinez last year, and that was before COVID made the upcoming drafts a crapshoot. In my opinion Murphy is more valuable, and that should be reflected in any TDL deal.

Fair enough...I just dont know what the market does...and by adding Murphy, this team looks formidable. A Mart got 2-2nds...So basically the same return.

Maybe a 1st and Poolman or Niku(roster player to replace Murphy) for Murphy and a 4th....

It doesnt really matter as long as we get someone like him or Savard. A big body right shot defender

hard pass. At this point I wouldn't trade him for a late 1st. I would rather just keep him. It would be a 1st+a B prospect I think

Niku and Poolman wouldn't move the needle to even fill in a empty slot. Hawks have very good young prospects in Mitchell and Boqvist (already fulltime NHL guys) and Alex Regula who is a strong prospect so our right side is solidified and with Zadarov who can play on the right in a bottom pairing. The only spot we have a need for on D is a top 2 line LHD. We have Keith of course who will be in one of the spots for the next couple years, but De Haan is probably going to get moved to Seattle or in a trade, Zadarov is so so for a 3rd liner but not a long term solution IMO albeit more interesting then Niku or Poolman. Beaudin is looking really good to fill the future top 2 spots on the left (likely 2nd liner) and Carlsson is a solid 3rd liner.

My best guess is if the Hawks move Murphy in the next 8 months, it's likely going to be (either through the draft or other team's prospects) to get back a top 2 line LHD prospect/young player or a top 6 RW young player/prospect...again prospect could be draft picks to fill those needs or current prospects on other teams.

I meant for this year....I doubt CHI would want to bring in more guys for the last 15-20 games

We have Keith, De Haan, Zadarov, Beaudin, Carlsson, Mitchell, Boqvist and Murphy all playing with Beaudin, Carlsson, and Boqvist (due to Covid) rotating in and out. Already have too many guys and Niku and Poolman would be behind all of them in the pecking order.
