Probably require more than that, especially with the retention. a 2nd and 3rd? a 3rd and Liljegren?

If Im TOR GM, I make it happen to add a bit more sandpaper but doesn't require a quality young roster guy (Sandin, Mikheyev, dermott). So 'd go as high as a 2nd and Liljegren.

If I were Jimmy Vesey I would just go back to playing college hockey, seems like it was way easier for him there

Liljegren + 2nd is a pretty big overpay for a guy with one decent playoff run in his last 4 seasons or so.

Also, any trade acquiring Bennett would have to be closer to the deadline, can't carry a 20 man roster with less than 700K in capspace.

I don't get all these Bennett trades to the Leafs. Leafs have lots of wingers as good as Bennett. Bennett will be a UFA next summer as he certainly isn't going qualified at 2.55m.
Leafs or no other team would ever give up much for Bennett.
Yea maybe society has evolved past Jimmy Vesey. Vesey for Bennett would be an even trade...with Calgary retained so the cap is the same for both teams.

Who are the two guys you are taking out once Thornton and Robertson are healthy? To me the 4th line is set with some combination of Engvall, Spezza, Boyd, and Petan. The third line when healthy could be Robertson, Thornton, and Mikheyev. Can’t see Joe taking Hyman off the top line. IMO the lineup when healthy should look:
Hyman Matthews Marner
Nylander Tavares Simmonds/Mikheyev
Robertson Kerfoot/Thornton Simmonds/Mikheyev
Engvall/Petan Spezza/Thornton Boyd

Vesey Barabanov on the outs. A roster player has to go the other way in a Bennett trade

I cant wait until Bennett is finally traded so we dont see these hilarious over payments for an ok 3rd liner who has bad defensive impacts.

I honestly don't think it would take much to acquire Bennett at this point Calgary is a team desperate for wins and they're intentionally not playing him right now. A 2nd rounder alone seems like an overpayment

I love CF, there's always the too little side, and always the much side.

imo this is an overpay but I didn't wanna make it too little, Bennett is a middle six forward at most

yea my thoughts exactly, just don't wanna watch vesey play again he has like no impact on the game whatsoever
