Remember this is next year so everyone is a year older

Binnington over Fleury.

We'll see where Weber is in a year.

This next one may sound crazy but: we'll see where Bergeron and Marchand is. Bergeron specifically is from the same draft class (Weber too) as former team Canada Players Jeff Carter, Ryan Getzlaf, Corey Perry, Eric Staal (and non Canadian Olympians like Parise and Suter). Sooner rather than later he'll decline like the rest.

Marchand will be about 34

Unless Laf takes a huge step forward Hall is still well ahead of him

I know I’m biased, but I’d put Scheifele ahead of Barzal. He’s much more experienced, responsible, and in his prime

Father time never loses. We'll see when it is. But it will happen.

As I said. Look at all the incredible players in the 2003 draft. Bergeron is the only one left who is a stud.

Would you want Eric Staal or Getzlaf, or Carter, or Perry on this team?

no, but dont think any of those guys are still averaging above a PPG while continuously being one of the best defensive players in the league

But thats my point exactly. I don't expect him to keep this up. It is a weird exception that he still is at this point. He is likely to decline sooner rather than later

My point isn't that he shouldn't be on the team today. He 1 million percent should. He is certainly a top Canadian

My point is that all of his peers who were also elite have declined, and the vast, vast, vast majority of players decline heavily by his age, so I'd bet there is a pretty decent chance he declines pretty rapidly in the near future.

Can he be the next Tom Brady, or Gordie Howe? Sure! But I'll go with the odds where he'll decline sooner rather than later.
