Both good young players with decent upside still. Maybe Oilers could add a draft pick but let me know if this is close! Think this could be good for both sides!

Hmm, hmm, ummmm, good and no good for both sides, Brannstrom is going to be a really good offensive defenceman one day and JP is having success with McLordy right now, it's a extremely hard pass but something like this might end up happening one day... Who knows though...

Brannstrom looked great last night. Obviously it's only one game, but I think Ottawa needs what he brings on the blueline more than what Puljujarvi brings. They have desperately needed someone besides Chabot who can break the puck up the ice and contribute offensively.

The Oil have several young LHD behind Nurse and Klef moving forward. Even if Klef is done forever, they have Broberg, Jones, Lagesson and Samorukov who are all on a trajectory to be serviceable on that left side, and who could all push for regular spots next season or already have arrived this year. At forward, the cupboards are much more uncertain. So positionally, Pulju is far more important to the Oil than another young LHD like Brannstrom, who I do like, but is not a need. If the Oil get a LHD this season I would hope it would be a vet for a playoff push in the last year of their deal.

Yeah this makes a lot of sense to me as to why the Oilers likely wouldn't want to do this. I think the value is very close but it doesn't really fit where the Oilers are in terms of trying to maximize on their time with McDavid in his godly prime.

Decent trade value wise. Horrible positionally for Edmonton tho. I love jps game this season oilers need that upfront far far far more than any defensive youth.

This looks like a no from both sides.

Edmonton needs Puljujarvi more than they do Brannstrom, and they would be better served to let Puljujarvi increase his trade value league wide before trading him anyway.

Brannstrom is needed so much more than Puljujarvi in Ottawa because of their terrible defence, and Ottawa has decent top9 wingers they can stick with. Brannstrom could also use more games to solidify his trade value as well, as many fan bases still don't appreciate him based on his size.
