Trade Danault. Even though he's doing good in Montreal, centers are very valuable. A team like the Rangers would offer a big trade for Danault. Same with Tatar. If extensions don't work out, trade him. When players in the system come up (Caufield), they would have room for him if they trade Tatar. This might hurt them now, but help them in the future

So your plan is to take one run at the cup This year then tear it down and rebuild again for another 5 years. Yeah that won't happen. We already have a full cupboard of picks and prospects, we don't need more. What we need is a top 6 LW and 3rd line center to keep us as contenders for the next 3-5 years while our younger prospects mature and take over. That is what Danault and Tatar bring.

I like both players, but Tatar will likely ask around 6M. Plus the real problem will be the season after, when Suzuki and Romanov will need new contracts someone important from this group will have to be traded for sure because the only players coming off contracts will be Chiarot and Kulak which none of them take a huge portion on the capspace.

I think you could make the cap work with Tatar at 5.5 Mil but not much more than that. I will take a look and tag you if I can make it work.

Yeah I was looking at the possibilities and it doesnt look good for keeping both lol. I was really hopeful cause they are both huge parts of this team. I guess here is hoping that Poehling finally steps up and works harder to stay in shape or we can find another steal of a trade with Chicago lol.

Keep both and make a Cup run. If they don't resign with the Habs, don't worry, that's still 10m to spend on two other UFAs.
