VAN decline, they would rather take a draft pick.

The issue is Virtanen's value is very low at the moment so I don't know if VAN moves him yet or waits

I'd be shocked if Bobby Ryan fetched a second. I like him, but not happening.

I don’t know how much ice time Barabanov would get in Ottawa.

Ottawa’s top9 forwards
Brady Tkachuk, Timmy Stuetzle, Evgeni Dadonov, Josh Norris, Colin White, Chris Tierney, Drake Batherson, Nick Paul, Connor Brown

4th line candidates
Derek Stepan, Artem Anisimov, Craig Paquette, Austin Watson, Alex Galchenyuk, Logan Brown

Forward prospects that are close, Alex Formenton, Filip Chlapik, Vitaly Abramov

Ottawa isn’t giving up a pick for a player that can’t crack the lineup.

Excellent point. Until Barabonov gets the chance to see some ice time in a familiar role, I don't see him having much trade value. I don't like any of these trades, it weakens the Leafs lineup flexibility in trading away two depth pieces on waiver exempt deals. The gain (in Ryan and Virtanen) over any of the players in the current lineup is very marginal if there's a gain at all. Part of what makes those bottom 6 forwards mesh well with the group is locker room and team dynamics and so far this year it seems the Leafs room is pretty unified. I'd leave it alone and let them keep rolling. So far the injuries have just allowed for some of the depth players to get their chance and have impressed me so far.

Stop trading Kerfoot for Bennett!
