Tortorella and Deangelo? Not sure that's a good idea.

He cleared waivers.
What makes you think anyone wants him now, when they could have had him for free???
You can keep your locker room cancer.

LA, Ducks, Flames, and Jets are rumored to want him.

True. But they want him at retained salary with assets. Nobody took him for free. Let alone a good defenseman, which is what the jackets give up in this trade. Indicating this trade is not realistic to put it nicely.
I hate AD for my own reasons but to think he has positive value is ugonwat. Which I am not accusing you of being but just in general. I’ve seen it too many times to just let it go without saying.

It cracks me up how people like you think they could speak for all 31 NHL teams. It's like you all have the same talking points... "If no team claimed Deangelo for free, what makes you think a team will trade for him? You're a (add derogatory name) if you believe Deangelo has positive value!"

What's clearly obvious, except for those who use the above talking points, is only a few teams had enough cap space to claim Deangelo at full price ($4.8 million). Just about every team has been up against the cap ever since the first day of Unrestricted Free Agency. Why do you think VGK only got a 3rd round pick for Nate Schmidt?

Deangelo had 15 Goals and 53 Points in 68 games last season. There's no doubt he could revive and run a struggling power play. Come playoff time a good power play is much more important than it is 10to15 games into the season. Basically because there's still much hope a team can turn their power play around.

But at the trade deadline... Many teams in the playoff picture will be actively looking to correct a struggling power play and most teams (unlike now) will have the cap space to make trades. Also if a player is traded in April just before the TDL, there's not enough time left in the season for a new player to change the well bonded for several months team chemistry of a locker room. Especially if a team puts Deangelo's stall next to the team enforcers stall. And at this point, Deangelo would simply have to take what ever beatings come his way and hope no one reports on it...

Sooo, there's a very strong possibility Deangelo gets traded in April before the trade deadline for "positive assets". The only way Deangelo doesn't get traded in April, is if he's traded before then.

It's funny, I actually think it's the best fit for him "coach wise".. He's a horse that needs to be broken.. Torts is the best guy for the job. But that's just my opinion.. Torts and Del Zotto never got along or saw eye to eye but they stayed in contact and talked about his game even when they were in different organizations and now he brought him into CLB. I think it's the relationship ADA needs

I would be all over this move if I thought it would help the CBJ, but it is a huge risk, no matter the talent that AD has.
It is very difficult to bring a player with a bad attitude or underlying bias in line with the team culture (other than giving the players the green light for a "code red" on AD).
From what I gathered on his past "issues", it sounds like he has both deep seeded bias/prejudice as well as anger issues....remember Raffi Torres? (ex Blue Jacket)
With uncertainty of Seth Jones' future with CBJ beyond 2022, it could make sense to bring in a player like this to see if it works, but definitely a big gamble.

Great analogy, though I don't believe it will come down to the whole team looking at Torts waiting for him to give the green light - or any other coach if traded to a different team.

The bias/prejudice issues Deangelo had in the past have not been an issue for like the last 5-6 years. It seems Deangelo problem is that he's a hot head with a big mouth. But I would think this whole indecent has humbled him greatly knowing that this is his last chance to play in the NHL and he'll from now on keep his opinions to himself.
