Red Wings fans will say no anyways, but I wouldn't do it either. Both have 7 pts in 12games, while Mantha plays 17+ minutes per night and KK barely plays 13

no reason for mtl to make this trade. Kk is getting better and better. Mantha is 26. he is what he is. he's 50-55 point winger. KK can be a 60-70 point centermen. I'd keep the center

By keeping both Danault and Mantha you have killed your cap for Suzuki, KK and others. That is why I suggested Danault + Byron for Mantha to trade off on cap issues. Plus the draft picks for Detroit.

Mantha is putting up 50-55 points on DETROIT, but he probably can put up 70 pts with Montreal

Paul Byron can put up 5 points a game in beer league. whats your point? you still lose the trade by trading a 20 year old 3rd OA pick for a 26 year old established winger whose never hit 50 points. this is a bad trade for mtl

well kk is gone. so no need to worry about him.

this trade takes the habs all in for next season. they will need to move salary the following season for suzuki. the likely scenario is to pump drouin's numbers until then and then trade him for futures to restock draft picks.

MTL says no, KK is only 20 years old and getting better and better.....besides MTL has waited a long long time to have young promising prospects at C and now they finally have what looks like their 1C, 2C punch, I don't think they touch that. rather keep Lehkonen, they put up very similar pts but leckie is an monster on the PK and amazing on D, can't replace that easily.

man, I don't know about moving KK. I don't think we have seen his ceiling yet. I believe he is going to get much better.

If Mantha was healthy last season and in 2019, he could've hit 50-60 points

hes only getting 13 mins a game. and he's played well with his new wingers. he'll add more to his frame, mature a bit more, he'll be a beast.

Once his faceoff's improve he is your #2 C. I like Evans at #3 next year. So why pay Danault $5 ? trade him after season for picks in 2023. We have plenty of players, prospects and picks for next two drafts.

and if the world ran on hopes and dreams it would be nothing but rainbows and unicorns! it's fun to play the IF game but at some point you have to come back to reality! Reality says that when a player has been in the league for 6 years, is 26 years old and never hits 50 points, he is NEVER going to hit 50 points consistently in the future.

I don't see a future either for danault on the team. Plus that Russian kid in the pipeline, Khisamutdinov seems like an interesting player too. lets see how he plays in laval this year. either way, no need to trade KK.

yeah I personally think he has a very very high ceiling, just his improvments from last season to the playoffs was huge and now from playoffs to now is even better. his defensive game has already drastically improved, his physical play is awesome, he wins a lot of board battles now, his skating got a lot better and his vision is already amazing....wait 2 more years and this kid is going to be nuts. I don't trade him for Mantha at all.

I do not know a single thing about Khisamutdinov, so I will certainly look for him this season. I agree, I think Suzuki, KK and Evans are your 1,2,3. Evans and Danault are eerily similar. Also we have not spoken of Poehling which is hard to do because he hasn't played a single game but what is his ceiling?

he needs to play games. either in the ahl or nhl. imo he's our future 3c. not evans. imo he can be like danault, prob not as good defensively, but better offensively.

My gut tells me Claude falls in love with Evans. I coached a kid that it took me a full month to appreciate his game. You are so busy with match up's, PP, PK, etc that some players go under the radar. Once I began watching his game, I was like wow this guy is good. He went on to play 9 seasons after I coached him in the ECHL, AHL and Europe. He just retired and became a firefighter last summer and became a dad a month ago. Not to digress, but to say sometimes fans do not appreciate or notice the little things players do.

For example, way too many people on here are madly in love with Mete. He skates fast, but he will not give you much offense and he is not strong enough to give you much defense. So what do you do with him? he becomes a depth d-man, exactly what MTL is doing. Yet, people on here see him as a top 4 d-man.

Seattle gets a goalie from Montreal. It could be Byron and Primeau or Allen. Montreal can decide...

Primeau is Exempt from the expansion draft, McNiven is not though. MTL won't give them Primeau, they don't have another solid goalie prospect in the pipeline to take over for Price.
I say it's ones of Allen, chariot or edmunson that gets taken.....low chances of byron but that would be nice to get his salary off the books.

yes absolutely I did. Mantha is a 25 goal scorer. Danault is a 12 goal scorer with Selke acumen. His face off's, his 200 foot game. If Detroit puts offensive wingers with him, it will be a very good line. In the last 3 years Danault's line has been in the top 3 of all NHL lines 5 on 5. Plus Danault agrees to an extension with Detroit before the trade. Now add Byron. People will say but he is a 4th line player. Yes on a very deep team. But on Detroit he is a 3rd line winger that will get you 15 to 22 goals per season. Plus he is lightning fast and kills PK's. Then I added two draft picks. So yes that is a reasonable trade. Also, between Danault and Mantha is only 1 yr difference!
