Sellers at TDL

Created by: Opie
Team: 2020-21 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 8, 2021
Published: Feb. 8, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Palmieri & Gusev go. Zajac uses NTC to play out his contract .... Murray & Kulikov may go too, if the offer is too good to refuse. However, in this version, they stay. I suspect NJ retains both & tries to resign at least one to bridge the time until Bahl & Walsh are ready (not to mention Okhotyuk & the multitude of Russian defenders, whose rights NJ hold)

I think he could fetch a 1st+ from someone at the deadline, if he starts scoring. NJ might have to retain a bit or take a contract back, depending on the buyer's cap situation. Can't see NSH being a buyer this year though. Palmieri's not going to fix what's wrong with the Preds right now.

Wouldn't expect more ... guess you may get a first but then you dont get Evangelista. I think The second + Evangelista is better for NJ. They need RWs in the system & he fits their style of play (imo).

Lol, yeah, they have plenty of holes, but if they are he's sound two way & can help on the PP. I think he'd compliment the other players there.

Hot commodity, no ... but he will have interest no doubt, particularly with salary retention. But I do recognize the sarcasm & that you're not looking for an honest, thoughtful answer. Ill just provide one anyway.

True so far, but ts early. Crazy season. Im not counting anyone out (ok, so yeah, Ottawa is out, but ....) Nashville could turn it around. Maybe a different coach?

I mean, hint of sarcasm for sure. But actually wondering how he has looked since I haven't watched him specifically when I watch devils games

Palmieri (50%)

for

Tomasino and signing rights to Farrance
(NJD guarantees Farrance a roster spot to get him to sign)

Slow start like last year. Hischier is the answer to all of this IMO.
If I am Fitz I keep these to vets to be the leaders once Zajac is gone.
I assume these are all with NJ out of the PO picture?
Are any of these trades with extensions or not?

Yes, Hischier would be a huge help. Good point

Benning's been fine. Better than anyone from last year's bottom pair rotation of Weber/Irwin/Hamhuis/Tinordi/Holzer.

Even if NSH were contending, their best forward and defenseman prospects aren't going to be available for a rental.

As much as I wish otherwise, I think best case scenario for NJ is to stay close down the stretch & be a real pain in the a$$ for the contenders fighting for position. 6th place, playing competitive hockey throughout, would be a solid accomplishment given the youth / stage of rebuild.

I agree, could see Fitz keeping one, but not both. He is still in asset gathering mode. If its one, I bet it's Palmieri for many reasons ... but Im guessing he gets an offer he feels compelled to take ultimately.

If all three walk (Gusev, Palmieri & Zajac), there will be a fairly large contingent of solid (some top shelf) UFA forwards who can be added for experience... maybe the approach he took this off-season with the Defense (Murray, Kulikov) & GK (Crawford) makes sense. Get the assets at the deadline and find a couple of vets who fit Ruff's style to fill in the holes. I wouldn't complain if that was the plan.

Yeah, no way those two see the trade market for anything less than in a package for a Barkov level player

Agreed, but I think Evangelista doesnt quite make that top tier & could move for the right opportunity. No? I like the kid, but he's not considered one of those untouchable guys in Nashville, is he???? That would surprise me.

Farrance is going to sign where he can play....might as well trade his rights to someone.

It was just a rumor I read ... but I saw a post that said he broke his femur. Hope its BS. If that's true, NJ may not see him this season. Gotta say, the updates from the staff have been very tight lipped. Haven't seen anything other than "he's progressing" & " no setbacks" which means nothing ... anyone know whats going on with Hischier?

Tomasino and Farrance? That would certainly be worthwhile for Nashvegas, but I think Barkov would require a bit more. And Farrance would have to have a sure spot in Florida lineup.

WHATT!!??!?

I read it was his foot/ankle. Another player fell on his foot.

The foot is a long way from the femur

Hope you're right ... sounds like he's skating but Idk ... the whole thing is fishy. Why zero clarity or updates?

No, I wouldn't think Evangelista is untouchable. As I said earlier though, NSH isn't looking like a buyer right now. If anything, they should be deadline sellers.

There's been zero reason to think Farrance isn't looking to sign with NSH when he's done school. Just because Vesey didn't want to be in NSH (a blessing in disguise, really), doesn't mean Farrance will spurn them too.
