I know he doesn't have a NMC/NTC but Derek Stepan wants to be back in the States only.

I get that doesn’t have to be him but I’m not seeing a lot of options trying to avoid quarantine. Edmonton obviously isn’t in the states but if he’s stuck in Canada it’s at least a better situation than being stuck in Ottawa. This is meeting in the middle in several ways not ideal player for team not ideal location for player but for everyone involved just making the best of a tough situation.

Ottawa has a plethora of other available options for the right price. Tierney is probably the best option for you guys. Safest player in the lineup for Ottawa.

That being said, I doubt he'll be available when Stepan gets moved later on down the road. Once Stepan gets moved, Tierney becomes the automatic 3C. Would you want a slightly used Artem Anisimov for a bag of pucks?

Stepan is not what he used to be...unless you're getting him at 50%, not sure its worth it.

There are better centers available

Who? Staying within Canadian division is available and better. I agree 100% he’s not what he use to be and really not ideal choice in player but options become very limited very quickly keeping the deal within Canada to avoid quarantine set back.

Tierney would be top choice considering situation but sens fans argued that idea yesterday so moved on. AA I’d be ok gambling on unless he has term attached which I don’t think he does.

Oh...limited to Canadian teams. That does narrow it down quite a bit. Bennett (I'm sure you thought of that). Maybe Tierney if OTT would part with him. Brandon Sutter can play C, no? Maybe Step is your best bet.

Maybe you should find a decent LW (Bennett?) and put Nuge at 3C.

On a totally related note, I can't wait for Holloway to arrive.

Only issue I have with haas is relying on him. On ice performance I’m happy enough with but getting him on the ice is a bit concerning. He’s my plan B. Plan A find an experienced veteran to cover the role for rest of season can rotate haas there I’m cool with that. What I’m not ok with at this point is continuing to count on turris which is why only looking at Canadian teams replace without waiting for quarantine.

Agree on Holloway.
I want to avoid nuge playing in bottom six he’s in a contract year be fair to the player since want to keep around. Let him prove his value in a fair position in the line up. This only works in my opinion if certain haas can cover the bet and will be able to count on staying in line up. Both those aspects not certain on and I want to win enough with excuses at the end of year our bottom six let us down. Well let’s just do something about it.

Ya I want turris replaced ASAP absolute disappointment don’t want to continue watching him be a liability so quarantine is a problem. Bennett is a flame won’t see me make any trade suggestions with them. Tierney was top choice but sens fans didn’t want Barrie for him and I can’t justify adding to that also don’t want the extra year of term that comes with him. Options seem to fade very fast.

Best bet - find US-based player and hope two weeks go by quickly.

Ive been saying for the longest time.

OTT should retain on Tierney, and ship him to EDM.

Tierney has 2 x 3.5M, if OTT brought that down to 2M he would be the ideal

If Barrie is going the other way no retention needed. I tried suggesting that yesterday but Ottawa fans seem to think he’s better and worth more than Barrie which is absurd in my opinion but is what it is.

Oh god, hell no to Barrie.

OTT wants prospects/youth and picks. We don't want old bad Offensive D

And Barrie is useful to Edmonton, I'm not sure why they'd move him at this point. He's currently 5th in the league in points for defensemen, if they want to move him a contender will give up a decent package for him closer to the deadline.

Agree he’s useful to Edmonton only reason I throw his name out there is because Bouchard has been very good and can bring a lot of what Barrie does. Cap needs to go to bring cap in so although he’s been as advertised and done well he’s easiest to replace while having enough value to get a deal done.

Only reason Ottawa brings in Barrie is to flip him out. I'm thinking that Stepan isn't going to happen to a Canadian team, but I think retaining 50% on Stepan for Barrie and a pick is more the type of deal, but only if they think they're going to get something for Barrie from someone else.....

Barrie would be an easier flip. Rd puck movers at deadline tend to be golden tickets. I’d one for one right now obviously requiring retention but wouldn’t offer any picks to compensate. If Ottawa declines is what it is look elsewhere. Barrie as is worth more at deadline than Stephan with 50% retention.
