Always like to see people jumping on the Nick Paul train! Would be a great addition to the Leafs. IMO salary will need to go out so switch Hallander for Engvall with the pick

I agree that he's not worth that much in value, but the Sens are in a weird place right now where they're going to overvalue a couple of players simply because of what they're providing to the room and to the chemistry of the team. Nick Paul's a great story because he climbed up the ranks and did his time in the AHL and worked his butt off to get where he is and now he's a complimentary player a la Connor Brown that can fill in all over the lineup. He's young enough that he can stick with the core of the team. They have no reason to move him for a 3rd and Abramov; that's an uninspiring package that offers them very little in return that moves the needle when Nick Paul is already satisfying needs for them now. It's got to be something that wows them now and makes it worth sending him away because otherwise they'll just keep him.

Right, i don't think the sens would do it, and another team probably would give up more, but paying a premium for a 3rd liner, no matter how good isnt a direction the leafs should be going in

Completely agree. They'd be better off going elsewhere with those assets than trying to pry a player that's (fortunately or unfortunately) instrumental to a team's makeup like Paul currently is to the Sens.

Or they could just keep them. The Leafs scouting department has looked really strong recently; they could likely make out just fine on that 3rd round pick or whatever assets they would give up in a trade by drafting and shooting for the fences with it.
