I'm sure none of these would ever happen but for fun.

LTIR = New Prospects in Nashville

Yes i know the Nashville team will be bad for a couple years. That's the point of hoarding 1st round picks and getting a high pick with Nashville's 1st.

Didn't trade Josi, Ellis, Duchene, or Joey b/c their contracts make it extremely difficult to move.

on the trades:

Montreal gets a LHD upgrade in Ekholm @ 50% - Nashville gets a replacement LHD and a good prospect

Montreal gets a 30G player for 3M, drops Byron's bad contract, but gives up a 1st and a great prospect in the process. Nashville gets a great prospect but he's committed to college for another 2 years and a 1st.

Edmonton gets a 30G forward on a good contract and drops Neal's contract. Nashville gets a 1st for taking Neal's contract and Broberg for Arvidsson.

Boston gets a versatile RW who's having a good year and a 2nd - Nashville gets DeBrusk who should develop into a 20-30G LW but is having a bad year

Florida gets a versatile winger who can play up and down the line up and a lesser pick. Nashville gets a slightly better pick

NYR gets rid of a locker room issue and picks up a good depth D and winger. Nashville gets a good prospect and a replacement dman that we can buy out in the offseason if he doesn't figure things out. Personally i think DeAngelo figures out what he needs to do to stick it in the NHL and turns things around in Nashville.

The team will be bad for a couple years but then we'll have: DeBrusk, Tolvanen, Tomasino, Kravtsov, Caufield competing for top 6 ice time with Farrance, Guhle, Broberg, Davies fighting for 2nd and 3rd pairing time and hopefully working their way up as Josi and Ellis age. Depending on where we land on in the draft in 2021 we'll end up with another good D prospect (Clarke, Power. Hughes) or possibly a C prospect (Beniers, Raty, Johnson, Eklund). Have another top 5 pick in 2022 looks like a good year for centers and wings. Things fall the right way and we end up with one of Wright, Savoie, or Lambert and we're a long way towards being competetive again.

Boston declines and counters with 2nd and Pavel Shen.

Contending teams don’t give up main roster, long term assets for rentals.

NYR is likely only interested in Ekholm and maybe, just maybe Duchene if there was retention there. Maybe a Strome & ADA for Duchene would fit but even then his salary is too high moving forward

NSH shouldn't do this. They have too much talent with too much term on the roster to give up. They need to lightly retool and try again, not blow it up

Or... NYR could just buy out DeAngelo themselves and keep their top F prospect.... the scraps going back the other way don't make them even consider it.

I don't like either MTL proposal for NSH, given how much the Preds are retaining, as well as taking back a couple undesirable contracts.

I think you're selling low on Arvidsson and Jarnkrok.

No reason for NYR to give up Kravtsov when DeAngelo's buyout hit is pretty manageable. If NSH pulled this deal off, I'd hope they buy out DeAngelo too - a locker room cancer like that is the last thing you'd want to introduce to a young, rebuilding squad.

DeBrusk has never done it for me, but I can't see BOS trading a roster player if they're loading up for a playoff run anyway.

I'd do Granlund for a 2nd and Berglund.

Oilers say no. Defence and goaltending are bigger issues for Edmonton than wingers. Broberg will be team controlled for a very long time so its best to have him in the lineup.

Arvidsson would be a sweet fit with the Oilers though. But the top 6 is good enough right now that its not moving out top d prospect and a 1st. If Nashville is ever looking to move him, I would probably be interested as a fan, but not sure if its on the radar of management.

Neals contract is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. He has 2 years left after this season, and is maybe like $2M overpaid. Thats pretty manageable. I don't believe its worth dumping a 1st to move out. Neal plays well and has adjusted to his bottom 6 role well, finishing all of his checks.
