You do not want to make that trade. Gaudette doesn't provide anything of value for the Leafs

He most certainly would, your defence is slow outside of Hughes and all together terrible outside of Hughes and Schmidt

He'd be the Canucks 4th best defenseman. You could argue he could be 3rd too

Rather keep Dermott. Only a matter of time until injuries hit the backend.

I'd rather Dermott fill in the Top 4 when needed.

and Dermott isn't gonna change that they're better off using the cap space to sign an actually RHD who could actually make a difference

He doesn't do anything to fix the underlying issues they're better off using the cap space to sign a RHD who could actually make a difference defensively

The Canucks have a plethora of problems, he doesn't fix the defense issue, but he helps add some much needed depth to the blueline.

depth isn't the issue tbh the defensive play of the 6 starters is the biggest issue

really like dermott but with shortened season hopefully we wouldnt get many injuries and we do have sandin, lehtonen and timmy if need be, may lose him for nothing anyways in seattle expansion

We have already had several injuries, risking it is a bad idea. Dermott is the best option at 3LD currently. Ride it out for the season

Leafs have lots of forward depth, so trading for one isn't needed. Dermot is an NHL Dman, and during the course of the season, teams need to 8 Dmen deep.

In effect you have traded two equals Vesey and Gaudette and traded Dermot for 4th. Horrid for the Leafs.

So with this trade, Leafs lose Holl for nothing at expansion draft, or Gaudette if they protect 4 +4 (which they should).

Short and compact season is exact reason to keep all the depth we can on the backend. I wouldn't trust any other Dman with Top 4 min if injuries hit.

Isles do need help with third-line wings, but I hate Jimmy Vesey with a passion so no.
