BurkeHextall Vision Part 2

Created by: Coleharborcrosby
Team: 2021-22 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 9, 2021
Published: Feb. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is obviously where it gets harder but as per my last post I am going to go with the scenario where they don`t make the semis and retool on the fly.

Malkin/Letang trades for the offseason are difficult. The idea though and the strategy for Burke and Hextall will be to trade them for picks/prospects/player and use the cap space to sign impact players. There will be significant interest in signing in Pitt this offseason.

Only someone who’s on crack would think 1 year of a soon to be 34 year old Letang is worth more than Ethan Bear.

FLA easily declines, Malkin is too old and Knight has too much potential

I could be wrong but I dont think florida can do that trade cap wise, pens either have to take back a contract like stralman or retain

NYR will be winning the division and you'll be on here asking for a first for a 37 year old malkin no doubt

Ottawa declines, no room for Pettersson anymore, in fact Ottawa is actively trying to trade a defenceman.

You out your damn mind if you think Mallon fetches barkov at this stage in his career. You’ll be lucky to get borgstrom a first and stralman. There’s no more 80 point malkin and he’s most likely leaving for Russia after his contract.

A he's not leaving for Russia and B. Barkov is more likely to jet at the end of next year than Malkin. So yeah, lets not over value a guy with 1 year left.

He’s still much better than malkin at this stage of his career. So A, he’s not getting traded for malkin And B, I highly doubt he’s leaving Florida. He won’t get the money elsewhere and Florida is starting to get competitive.

25 goals 74 points in 55 games last year.
    to
20 goals 62 points in 66 games last year.
I think you're a bit ahead of yourself on better player at this point.

Don't take such small sample sizes as being an indicator. Especially when Malkin is hamstrung by no defensemen behind him.

Have you seen Florida’s team and their defense? I’m not saying malkin is bad but he’s not what he once was. And not one single gm in the history of this sport will take 35 yo malkin over 25 yo barkov. Nor do a one for one trade.

yes because the penguins defense and goalie is that much better this season with like everyone on IR.
Honestly, you fail to realize both guys are on expiring contracts at the same length.
You over here acting like you are giving up control over a period of time. You aren't.

You have to take into account the value GM`s place in leadership and playoff experience. Lets say that Barkov and Malkin are pretty similar in value at the current moment. Florida may make the move because Malkin would be able to guide the young team and provide invaluable playoff experience as Florida finally emerges as a playoff team. I think it is also more likely that Malkin is extended in Florida than it is Barkov is extended in Florida.

Malkin is much better than he is playing right now and will still be among the elite for a few more years.

The difference between each player is miles different. And it has nothing do with skill. One is 10 years younger and is hitting his prime. One is coming up to the part of his career where he is still valuable but never be what he was. You dont offer a 35 year old a 8 year 10 mil contact. The trade is beyond insane on a one for one. I wouldn’t do Crosby for barkov one for one. Cause like I said above age.

Yeah he’s playing bad but you still never trade barkov for a 35 year old player. That’s asinine. He’s got 3 years tops of string play. Barkov has 10. If the panthers are trading for malkin they’re not giving up their franchise center. He’ll be a 2c on this team helping mentor young players especially denisenko.
