The problem with trading for a goalie this season is the 14 day quarantine before they could even play for us. If we're desperate for a new goalie we'd have to wait 2 weeks. So honestly I can't see us making a move for a new goaltender tbh

Raanta is a UFA at season end. So, the question becomes, how many more points do the Oilers get with Raanta in net compared to Smith? I’d say maybe a half dozen. Is this worth a first round draft pick - a guy who could conceivably be a contributor for the next decade? I would say no.

Just try and sign raanta in the off-season with covid and quarantine it’s just not worth the trade

I like smith. He can string together a few very solid performances he’s a very competitive guy and from everything I’ve heard he’s excellent veteran presence in the locker room. Obviously not a long term solution but neither are the ideas being purposed here.

Koskinen would have to go back to make the $ work. The 2021 pick won't be trade the 2022 more likely.
