Initial Creation Date: Feb. 11, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Canucks aren't making the playoff and need to acquire whatever they can. Trades are focused on Canadian teams because of Covid rules. Jake traded to SJ because no team in Canada would want him, Merkley is a reclamation project just like him. I may be wrong, but that's the logic. Salary retained might be required for the Pearson deal. This gives the Canucks a whole host of misfits to make up the D next year. No guarantees, but it could be better.

CGY trade is bad for VAN.

Other teams decline.

How is Merkley a reclamation project lol? He's gone from the OHL to the AHL and eventually the NHL. That's...pretty normal for a prospect

So if no team in Canada wants Virtanen and he's essentially "garbage" at this point, why would the sharks get rid of their best prospect for the guy? Merkley isn't a reclamation project (at least not yet). He's played 4 AHL games in his career and could potentially become an NHL regular next season. This would just be really bad asset management by the Sharks.

Montreal throwing in a pick to get Benn back who is worse then Mete, on a higher cap hit, yes, great idea.

SJ trades look good if he just takes out Merkley 😂
