This is so bad for the Leafs. Bennett is 4th line LW plug, with occasional 3rd line capabilities. He isn't capable of playing 3C. Vesey for Bennett is about right.

The guy to get wouldn't be Bennett, it would be Jenner

If Kerfoot can figure out how to stay out of the box I much rather have Kerfoot but I would consider this trade just to stop killing so many penalties

Well he's had just 5 minors, but it seems like there is more.

For some reason it feels like its way more than that. I might just be thinking about that Edmonton game where he had 3...

It seems that Kerfoot gets a lotta TV face time when he gets a penalty....He has the look of disbelief, with kinda of smirky smile.

Maybe it's the Kadri association too? Naz always getting penalized, gets traded for Kerfoot (and Barrie) and it feels like the problem just shifts to a new host

I know and I still think he costs more than he's worth. He hits and that endears him to a lot of fans but it doesn't make him a good player. He is good, don't get me wrong but many think he's better than he is because he hits.

I pity you if you believe the only thing Jenner has on Kerfoot is his faceoff skills. He also torches him in the faceoff dot, among other things

Faceoffs isn't what makes a centre. If it was, Matthews is lightyears better than McDavid. Kerfoot is about as good positionally as you can get at centre and he has speed and works hard. He's also starting to pitch in offensively. Jenner would be a better faceoff guy and hit more while not being nearly as fast, good defensively or offensively. But he hits lots and it's clear you put a heavy premium on hitting.

Well Matthews IS better than McDavid on the defensive side of things so there's that
Also nah Kerfoot isn't better at defense, he's as good.

And If I were putting so much emphasis on hitting, then I'd try to get useless 4th line bums (ahem, like BogoNorris has been doing), not a player who can actually do thing like Jenner.

See, puck control is everything. With Jenner, the Leafs would have an amazing C core that would win most faceoffs. This matters

Thorton will not move back to the top line. Hyman is too good there with Matthews and Marner.

I read an article a while back about Faceoffs. Turns out winning Faceoffs isn't nearly as important as anyone thinks. There really isn't any correlating evidence to prove winning Faceoffs results in offensive chances or defensive breakdowns. Sometimes it does but more often it doesn't. Being sound positionally has a way bigger benefit than winning a faceoff. And since your only knock against Kerfoot is he loses too many Faceoffs, there really isn't an argument here. Yost on TSN did the article by the way. So Kerfoot being faster, positionally sound and better offensively, Jenner isn't an upgrade over Kerfoot when you consider we have 3 deadly faceoff guys already in Matthews, JT and Spezza.

I didn't say it is the only way to win, I just said it helps. Like the argument you made that the team already has 3 good faceoff guys is a valid one. It would just helps to add a 4th one. Like you can never have enough of good things in your team

Kerfoot is likely the 2nd fastest player on the team and one of the best defensively. Jenner is not fast, having speed is very good to have.
