Weird thought

Created by: Chapee44

Initial Creation Date: Feb. 11, 2021
Published: Feb. 11, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I personally love Dahlin but if he isn't going to flourish in the system Ralph is forcing on the team should we consider something like this? I dunno it's a crazy thought but it could really change our complexion as a franchise...

Also I don't know what the state of availability of these players is I'm just picking 3 that I heard rumours about not too long ago and I think could improve the team... Something to consider; Vince Dunn has outplayed Rasmus Dahlin in every aspect of the game except penalty differential so far this season.

Ugh I so agree but for Barkov I honestly would.. Let us not forget Barkov would have been a 1st overall pick centre if not for that MacKinnon kid.

His contract is up after the 2022 season. I imagine he’s going to get an office role than they will find a new coach hopefully one that doesn’t have a 1990s play style.

Except that he has 1 year left on his contract after this season. Zero shot you trade a franchise dman for essentially a rental. Already have a franchise center. There's only one player in the league you trade dahlin for and he's untouchable.

Krueger isnt negatively affecting Dahlin, he's still a 20 year old kid. Sabre fans need to take a deep breath

So you think dahlin is enough to acquire barkov and dump okposo. Then you say dunn is out playing dahlin "in every aspect of the game" but only give up a 2nd and 4th to acquire him.
See how those values are a bit off? I'm not saying dunn has equal value to dahlin. Obviously Dahlin has way more upside but they are definitely closer than you have here.

The difference between Dahlin and Dunn over past 10 games is insignificant compared to the gap between the two over next 10 years.

Yep. Not interested in trading dahlin, especially for a guy that could walk in a year. Thats crazy.

Okposo's inclusion just might. kill the deal for the Panthers. Barkov's NMC definitely kills the deal. Trading for one year rental by an out of the playoff team isn't wise

We don't trade Dahlin, especially if it could turn out to be one year of Barkov, it will be terrible. I'm sure Krueger will not coach Buffalo for long if he doesn't succeed this season or next, the market is full of good coaches and Dahlin could easily prosper in the future, he's still very young. Potential #1D are not on the road.

It's debatable. Krueger system seems to be stuck in the past, okay, only Dahlin's game, but neither Eichel not Hall apparently understands how to play this system. This system takes creativity away from our most creative players, which is bad. My conclusion is only for 10 games this season, so do not attach much importance to my words, let's see how it will be in the future.

You should not want to trade Dahlin, and that offer ain't getting you Dunn.

Oh I'm not panicking and thinking we should trade him! I just thought it would be interesting to look at. Resigning Barkov shouldn't be too much of a problem so I don't think we should look at it as a rental.

I agree the lack of creativity is a problem but Boston has been winning for years, and still is winning on structure, stability, and depth.

What would it take to get Vince Dunn at this point? I thought he was at odds with management and wanted out?
I also don't want to trade Dahlin, it's just something that my bored brain thought would be cool to look at.
Seeing Dahlin flourish beside the stability of Ekblad for the next 2 decades would be absolutely heartbreaking.

I just think it's an interesting way to look at the franchise with different pieces.
I am not saying we should be trading our swedish wonderkid!!! ahah

But we don't play like Boston. So far this season I have seen McCabe and Risto be a solid pair of defenders, the rest of the defenders are more likely to struggle with this system. Eichel, Hall, Reinhart and Skinner barely score in ES. We've definitely improved our performance on the face-off point and on PK, but our game in ES has fallen off a cliff and our best players just don't produce, and the guy who recently scored 40 goals is in fourth line with the checkers.

We could, of course, trade Dahlin, if you are sure that this will not affect our future, but we can then greatly regret it. I think we will tradee Eichel faster if he is unhappy and wants to leave than Dahlin. And we will build around Dahlin, Cozens and other young players, and whatever we get for Eichel.

The rumor early on was STL was asking teams for a 1st for Dunn, which they didn't get. I'd guess it would be a 2nd and 3rd....maybe Toews package (two 2nds) if someone wants to pay that. Your offer was right in the wheelhouse.

Also, the offensive d-man market is crowded these days, so its not like its a sellers market. STL could end up with less as long as Mete, Butcher, etc are out there.

1- At this time, he's not available unless the offer comically bowls them over.

2- Where the hell did you acquire that idea? He was playing poorly and got benched for a game, which has only happened 6 trillion times in NHL history. He came back into the line-up and was actually bumped up to partner Parayko.
