We do? I'd rather endure one year of Staal than 6 years of Matheson.

My two cents on MM. He's a 26 year old D-man who can skate extremely well with a cap hit of less than 5 million. Despite his play falling last year. If he was 29 or 30 I'd say no freaking way. But by the time that contract is up he's 32. Not horrible. And my answer is all depending on what his long term upper body injury is. In NHL talk that can mean anything from a massive concussion that'll ruin your career to broken ribs that's fine in a couple months. Long Term upper body is all we know right now.

This trade is all nonsense anyway. But Seriously, just about anything for Staal would be great. Because Staal couldn't return jack at the deadline. He'll be missing coverage and turning over pucks in our zone for the rest of the season. But I do like that 2nd round pick especially considering the Rangers aren't playing that great. Could be in the 30's low 40's Range. grin

Remember when you didn't have lemieux and Were bottom dwellers and the team was gonna move? Then he bought the team when they were gonna move again? Then they were gonna move again and Crosby saved them? Pretty sure you don't have room to talk having people save your team over and over again. Our team is bad now and not threatening to move and we will get out of this soon. Keep trying troll pal. You can keep your awful terrible contract and we will be free of staal after this year and free to rebuild. What a horrible person you are for even writing what you wrote.

Maybe before getting butthurt, take a second to think why don't you? First off, this post was made half-heartedly and is by no means a real depiction of what I think/what any true GM wld do. Secondly, I don't even like the Pens nor consider them "MY team" whatsoever lmao. Thirdly, "writing what I wrote"? What are you even talking about -___-

I do? Good thing I cldn't care less then... I'm sure the Pens will magically win the lottery again and end up with another generational talent. I wldn't pay it too much attention if I were you

What we don't need is a poor defense for the next 5 years. We have Seider and Hronek as a young core. Tuomisto and Wallinder are years away. McIssac is consistently injured and that likely will have a negative impact on his development. Years away if he arrives at all. Cholowski blows. It's time Wings fans wake up to the fact our #1 pick in 2016 is a bust. Lindstrom is good but a bottom pair guy. And there's ZERO guarantee we get a top 3 pick this year and get to draft a top defensemen. Owen Power, Luke Hughes, Brandt Clarke, Simon Edvinsson. If Detroit falls to 5th, 6th, 7th in the draft they're gone. Along with our dreams of contending anytime soon.

$4,875,000 is a very decent cap hit for a lightning fast defensemen that regularly puts up 20-30 points a year and who's 26. You guys talk and laugh about MM like he's trash. So Clueless.

I get the whole point of this ACGM is to unite brothers and not taken seriously. Anyone wanting Matheson I’d wager hasn’t watched him nor cares about analytics as he hasn’t been the same since the EP incident.

I wouldn't count on that too much Pittsburgh isn't anywhere near bankruptcy this time around so there is no need to give them any special favors.

I'm glad someone finally got the gist of this exercise and caught the Burke reference😅 I was looking for more Sedins type but it's pretty hard to find twins that play in the NHL...

Teams miss on #20-30th overall picks all the time. I wldnt beat yourself up over it. MTL hasn't hit on a 1st rounder for like 10 consecutive years dating back to the Leblanc draft 🤷‍♂️

I'm not beating myself up over it. Or the team. Every team has it's hits and it's misses.

Not True that Montreal hasn't hit on a 1st round draft pick in a decade. They had a major hit on Sergachev...and then promptly traded him lol. I'd say Caufield will also be a hit. Just wait. Way too early to throw Kotkaniemi into the bust category yet.

Yeah well in recent years they seem to have made out ok. I was more referring to the 2008-2015 drafts
