The Wild have to be one of the unluckiest franchises in the NHL

As much as I like winning, this isn't a bad year to do poorly (Pens should miss playoffs as well). We could be looking to trade away Johansson, Bonino, Bjugstad, Cole, Hunt, and Stalock at the deadline for more picks that could make navigating the expansion draft easier, then hopefully those who remain can come back healthy and ready to go next season. I didn't see Khusnutdinov making an impact until 2022-23 season anyways

No doubt, wasn’t expecting to see him in the N this year either. He was playing well, just unfortunate to see him get hurt. Shoulder injuries with any athlete are scary

Very true. Timeline makes it sound similar to Josh Anderson's shoulder injury. He's rebounded nicely this year, so hopefully it's no worse and Marat can do the same.

Question? Where would wild get C's from to finish the season. & for Kaprizov not to be Unhappy? I think one just can't make a trade during this covid times without having a replacement ready

Yeah, the major difference between the two is that Rossi was somewhat expected to potentially play for us this year. Khusnutdinov is still contracted to his Russian team for the next two years. So we were never going to see him before 22-23 at the earliest but probably more likely around 23-24.

But yeah this sucks for the kid.

That's the million dollar question. As ever and always. If it was that easy of a thing to get ahold of we would of had them a long time ago.

But right now the obvious choices are probably...

Bennett out of Calgary
Danault out of Montreal
Stepan out of Ottawa
Nugent-Hopkins out of Edmonton.

So obviously, no matter who we could go after we'd have to deal with Covid protocols and wait for them to clear it. Which means right now would actually be the best time to make a move for one of them and help speed up the length of time it would take for them to join the club. Since we're already under quarantine ourselves for the next little while and aren't playing.

Another one to maybe make a move for is Frost out of Philly. But he's out for rest of the year, so he doesn't help us now unfortunately. But the kid has top six upside and could be a nice 1-2 center punch with Rossi down the line.

Also, why are you worried about Kaprizov? We control his rights until he's 27, so for the next three years. Which is why it would be idiotic to sign him for less than a long-term deal because it would just lead him to FA. Michael Russo has said at length he expects Guerin to sign Kaprizov to a minimum of a 5 year contract. That's plenty of time to try and work on the center situation.

If nothing else we should have Rossi within the next 3 years. Could Kaprizov demand a trade, sure, if that's what your worried about, but with Rossi and other prospects on the way I'm not convinced he will.
