Engvall doesn’t come close to Rakell. You’d need to upgrade who you make the package around and add a prospect

Yes, you would need to add, imo.

He's having a rough year, but I still think with two years left at half retained, they could get a 1st + mid level prospect and maybe another pick. Regardless of what the package would be made up of, the total value here just isn't enough.

Rakell is a great fit on the Leafs, but yeah its gonna take a lot more to get it done.

I'd be looking to move Liljegren + a pick

Liljegren and your 2021 first, because of the retention. We've got 4 guys at LW better than Engvall, and DesLauriers is probably more valuable to us, too.

I don't see Rakell being worth a first even with retention although the hope is its a low 1st - Swapping Engvall with Liljegren might look better given where he was drafted but I'm not sure it adds any value in this deal. I no longer have any faith he will figure out how to be a NHL defender. Engvall is a solid 4th line penalty killer at least but fair point in not being what Anaheim would want.
