Looks great until you think about trying to re-sign Makar and Grubauer...

I mean in this scenario crosby is making less than what landy will be asking for next year, plus bennet will be making less than compher. That's 2 mil more in cap space than we what we currently have for next year.

I’d do the PIT trade but no way in hell PIT does that.
Haula sure.
Bennett hard pass.
Dubnyk is a h, e, double hockey stick no.

Yeah and really that's the only way you do a pits trade if it works for us. I doubt they trade him at all anyways unless someone is giving up everything for him.
The thing about dubnyk is he would be the same pretty much as hutch last year in playoffs. He's not the all star he used to be but i think with a decent team in front of him he would be fine, especially for a 3rd string. After watching Miska i don't know how i feel about him, he just doesn't look very confident in there.

I think there are better options for a 3rd goalie, and I would be concerned about how he would take being a designated 3rd goalie.

Well not like he's going to be playing playoffs in San Jose and he just got traded there for a 5th round pick with minny holding half his contract, you have to think he knows his career is coming to a close. You're not going to find any solid goalies wanting to sit in the stands for what could be the rest of the reg season and playoffs and for a 5th round pick it's not going to hurt us

Dubnyk has the 12th worst GSAA in the entire league the last 3 seasons.

The only goalies worse are: Jones, Quick, Smith, Kinkaid, Anderson, Domingue, Bobrovsky, Pickard, Dell, Montembeault, and Luongo. Not exactly a list you want to be on given that it's comprised of goalies close to their 40th birthday (Anderson, Quick, Luongo...), AHL goalies, or guys who are just flat-out sucking (Jones, Bobrovsky).

Moreover, his 0.782 High danger SV% ranks as the 2nd worst (or 54th of 55) of all goalies with at least 30 games played in the last 3 years.

Needless to say I can't understand why anyone would want to trade for him.
