Do you think Marleau would waive to come to NYI? I'd love him here.

he doesn't have a clause. It just needs to be a playoff team IMO. However, if the Sharks are insistent he break the Howe record in SJ, that happens after the deadline

I can understand the frustration, but lets let them get a few home games under their belt. Since late Dec, they've been home less than a week I think.

I will say though, I've never seen Vlasic look less interested (it's actually really weird to watch, he doesn't look like he wants to be there). Maybe every team will be allowed a buyout that doesn't impact cap. I imagine it would be him at this point.

Jones cap hit after buy out isn't that bad.

One other thing I don't understand about this team. Much like last year, everyone is underperforming. I'll wait for some home games before judging too much further, but it almost looks as if Boughners system just doesn't work.

The next 10/11 games are against the top 3 teams, we aren't winning any time soon. We can barely beat So Cal

That's four pending UFAs near minimum salary...for 7th round picks.

Very mild reload.

Which large contracts?

Nobody will want Jones, Vlasic, Karlsson, or Burns, and few teams can/want to take on Couture's contract to pay him $8m until he's 38.

Hertl and Meier are building blocks that shouldn't be moved. That leaves Kane who has a 29 team NTC, and Labanc as the only moveable contracts. Not much there to kickstart a rebuild with tbh.

Paying Seattle to take Burns or Kane is the most likely scenario. I think Kane, we'd have to pay less, and there's a pretty good winger UFA market, plus Donato Meier Labanc Leonard are still growing

Doesn't Kane have a NTC/NMC? What's to stop him from having Seattle on his no-trade list?
