Not sure Toronto could make the cap work but if they can I think adding Hall would be crazy good

Prices at the deadline are going to be extremely lower than normal. Most teams will have a player they acquire after for maybe 10-15 games. In the Leafs case because of the quarantine rules, they'd have Hall for 7 games. They're not paying a 1st and a top prospect for 7 games of Hall. They don't need a top of the lineup winger. The need middle 6 guys and ones that one cost as much

That's quite a reach. My bad if I got the value wrong but out of curiosity, what do you feel is a fair return?

Having Middelstad in your top 6, engvall and thompson in your top 9 is not the best

I don't get it...this trade looks on par with last year's trade. Maybe a little less but more salary in cap-tight year.

I would think foudy is a non-starter for the avs when it comes to Staal, he plays their exact type of game. I'd be willing to give up a different prospect for the rental but foudy could make this team in a couple years

If Toronto wants Hall with 50% retained, then it won't be for Liljegren. They can keep all this nonsense about low prices. One of Amirov, Sandin or Robertson should go in the other direction, they also don't have a cap for Hall, they either have to swap a lot of Engvall pieces or add Kerfoot to the deal. Staal could have gotten either a better pick or a higher round prospect.

I scrolled down here to say exactly that. Maybe the value of a 3rd + B prospect is fair, but I would expect Colorado to insist on it being another prospect given how well Foudy fits their style of play and skating speed. Maybe 3rd + Kovalenko/Beaucage would work better?

I just don't think the Hall is a difference maker so I wouldn't do the Leaf deal. Arizona actually were worse with him, and Jersey became a .500 team without him. Yeah some team will trade for him, but there should be no expectation that the return is going to be as high as what Jersey got.

There is no chance we are paying someone to take him. Those dreams died before the season started, and really when we traded Nate

lol nobody is giving you a Sandin or Robertson type of prospect, even Amirov for that matter. Look at what he got last year.
