Technically, should SJ make this trade, they'd more or less give Simek for free to Seattle, as they'd have to protect Juolevi.

It's an interesting trade idea, but I think ExD kinda ruins it. I don't see them risking losing their best LHD.

That being said, it's kind of sad that a player like Simek actually is Sharks' best LHD lol.

The 2021 1st is probably gonna be top 5 so there's no way it gets moved. Edler is probably done in Vancouver I could see them signing Savard to play with Hughes. Podkolzin should also be here

I'm not that high on Simek tbh. I'm not too familiar with the Sharks, but I think he could be replaced via free agency, despite him having great chemistry with Burns. Also, if I'm not mistaken, Juolevi has to play 18 more games to be eligible.

Make it a 2022 then, I should have thought of that. I don't know about Savard, he's already over 30 and will likely sign long-term. I'd look for a RHD via trade. I think it's safe to assume that Podkolzin will spend some time in the AHL, just like Denisenko.

Well tbh he's going to play those 18 games this year, but there's no game restriction to get eligible. As long as the player is playing his 3rd pro year, he becomes eligible.

SJ seems to be high on Simek though.

Simek was great the first year he was here, but he's still coming back from injury sadly. He could get back though and has been improving.

Assuming VAN is one of Kane's 3 teams, this could happen.

Actually, it is. He's underrated. He's playing top line quite a lot lately and doing fairly well. Have you watched any Sharks games this year?

I've wanted to, but it's near impossible as I live in Europe and their games start like 6 AM my time.

Ya I agree the price would have to be right for Savard but I can almost guarantee Podkolzin isn't gonna be sent to the AHL

Gonna be a no thanks from the Sharks. First probably covers Eriksson but Juolevi and Holtby aren't what the doctor ordered in both need and value if we're shipping out Kane as well.

I think shipping out Kane is what's best going forward. The team is going nowhere with these massive contracts, and Kane most be the most moveable but has a 28-teams no trade list. The options are limited, Vancouver could be one of three destinations, Kane being from there. After Eriksson expires this year, you've got a 1st, a young dman with top 4 potential & an improvement over Jones in net that could be re-signed cheaper. This is just my personal view.

Ferraro is fantastic. I have no issue with him being the best LHD. It would be awesome if Vlasic wasnt dog**** but cant wish for the impossible

You have some decent points here. I agree the team has a stupid amount of bad contracts and Kane is probably one of the more moveable assets. Vancouver could very well be one of the teams on his trade list. We all know Eriksson is...well...Eriksson. Not much to say there but like I mentioned earlier the first probably covers the cap dump.

I just don't really know how to feel about Juolevi and Holtby. I know Juolevi is starting to come around but I'm not sure he's what we need really. I like him but I can't say I see him being anything more than a decent 2nd pair defensman. I could be wrong there but that's just my outlook at this stage. Holtby is okay as well but feels redundant if we don't find a way to trade or buyout Jones.

At the end of the day getting rid of Kane just feels silly because of all the overpaid contracts on this team, his is probably the least harmful at the moment. Not a bad trade but it's also not one which turns the needle a lot.

I think if the Sharks came to the realization that they need big changes then they consider this, but I would like to see the deal changed up to have Vancouver retain some money here even money in and out. So if Canucks retained roughly 3 million I think it's closer also I feel like Canucks would lottery protect the 1st rounder.
Not sure Sharks would mind losing Simek in expansion at this point.
