Leafs are win mode, so they keep Nylander. I don't think the Ducks should do it either. Keep their picks, Larsson and cap space that Nylander would. take for another player.

I just looked at some numbers that showed Rakell as good if not better than Nylander so I offered a similar package that’s being offered for Rakell by TOR fans.

Meh for the Leafs.

This is the year they should concentrate on being at their strongest since they don't have to worry about facing teams like BOS, TB or CBJ at the first round. They have almost guaranteed spot on the top4 in the league, as one canadian team is is guaranteed to get there, and the only real competitor thus far seems to be the Habs. So the time to make a completely future building deal is not now.

Not to mention that both Larsson and Mahura will be left exposed in the ExD. And most likely Mahura would get picked.

It'd total up to Larsson (5th LD in Leafs depth chart), Deslauriers (4th liner), and a meh pick in a bad draft for a great young top-6 winger.

TLDR: meh for the Leafs.

Based on the last three posts based around leafs and Ducks trades I’d say there may be a war coming, the capfriendly war of 2021 between the Ducks and leafs fans looks like it is about to come to fruition

No. Seeing if people expect exponentially more than for Nylander than for Rakell.

Nah it’s just the “player A sucks” but we still want him mentality from Leaf fans. It’s always been like that for them. They’ve just found another target.

Wrong move the Leafs to trade Nylander right now and also not a great move for the Ducks to give up (will cost more then you have here) major assets.

Which stats? I wouldn’t offer this for rakell and decline for nylander. Nylander is also trending up while rakell is trending down imo.

Only package that the leafs would consider is one that contains zegras or drysdale as the headliner. Those are probably untouchable but so is nylander.

TOR and ANA players Rakell is 3rd in ixG behind Matthews and Marner and 2nd in iSF, iFF, and tied with Matthews in iCF. That’s overall. Even strength Rakell is tops in iCF and iFF and only behind Matthews in ixG and iSF.

Lol. The numbers that's referred to are the ones the user commented on my post on trying to justify that Rakell better and should get a kings ransom for despite not producing well for 3 seasons.

They said:
" I’d also like to point out that between TOR and ANA players Rakell is 3rd in ixG behind Matthews and Marner and 2nd in iSF, iFF, and tied with Matthews in iCF." but they fail to mention that Nylander and Marner are still far better in many other categories. Apparently 2 categories makes Rakell an all star still. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Larsson wouldn't even be a 5th d-man in Toronto. Dermott, Sandin, and Lehtonen would be ahead of him. Hell even Liljegren may make the jump by then. He's at best the #8 guy. No interest from Toronto

he's not nearly as good but lets say for fun he is. Nylander is younger with double the term on his contract, plus a contending team isn't trading a key contributor for futures while a team like the ducks might.

That’s based on a 14 game sample size though. Nyalnder is ahead in half of those stats last year and most of them are close.

Nylander lead in almost every other metric like xGF xGA GF% SF% etc. last year. That’s also just the underlying numbers, rakell has struggled to finish chances for the third year in a row as nylander is doubling his goal totals.

One trade I prosposed at the draft was rakell + 4 for nylander and 15 or smth like that. I think that’s the value difference.

That wasn’t the point of this post. Just pointing out that Leaf fans expect a lot more than they expect to give up for Rakell which the numbers show Rakell is better.

I was told Rakell doesn’t drive play. He does. Also Rakell has played VGK, STL, COL and MIN for 10 of his 15 games. May be a small sample size but it’s against the best.

That’s fair. My stance is still that trades aren’t made on a couple underlying metrics. Rakell can drive play but he’s still a goal scorer who’s struggling to score goals for the 3rd year in a row.
