I know this isn't really the point of your post but Seattle won't touch Tony D. If there's a team willing to deal with his off ice stuff, it isn't going to be them

Because he’s under 26, I think it would make more sense to buy DeAngelo out, then waste assets having Seattle take him.

Let Seattle hopefully take someone else like Strome and free up more space and save the extras

With their projected development I expect Buchnevich, Kakko, Chytil, Lafreniere, Gauthier, Miller, and Howden to be better players next season than they are right now. So I think the lines look good.

The cap issues the following year though might be an issue, so there's not much the Rangers can do with the cap space they have next year. Unless Gorton signs UFA's to one year contracts.

Possibly the Rangers trade for a center like Eichel for maybe Fox if Lundkvist, Schneider, and Skinner are close to being ready for the NHL. As well as if Robertson and Jones are close to being ready for the NHL allowing Lindgren to move over to RD if needed.

Zibanejad's contract is up at the end of next season and I don't believe signing him to a 7 year around $9 million contract at age 29 will work out well for the Rangers. I believe it would be better to sign Eichel long term and let Zibanejad walk.
