I think you just have to pay more all around. Malkin is still a great player and he will be in very high demand. Beaucage and Timmons are nice but the kind of prospects most teams have enough of. That first-rounder is going to be late, and Kadri does nothing for Pittsburgh's future (I suppose they could sell him off later); doesn't he have a NMC?

With Foote, I think you get closer in value, but it comes off as quantity for quality. Again, TBL has their own Kauts and Helleson's fighting for roster spots, and that first-rounder is late. Foote is a capable defenseman in the here-and-now, and he's cheap. That's essential for a competing team.

I'm not sure that Malkin has anything left to give. He has seemed very disengaged and disinterested. I also have serious doubts that a club like TB that is a bit short on defensive help would trade away one of their promising young D. I wouldn't let Seattle take Jost - he has a lot of value as a defensive and PK specialist who is only 22 and won't cost much. If at all possible, I'd find a way to have Compher be the best option for Seattle.

Don't really see the need for the Rangers. They've already got their Top 4 LHD set in Lindgren & Miller, with Reunanen, Hajek, Robertson, etc. looking for the 3LD spot

Hajek is nothing at this point, whereas Robertson & Reunanen (and Zac Jones) are unknowns. I will say Tarmo Reunanen has looked good in Hartford after a great Finland, and his call-up will determine if we need a new 3LD. If he busts, then this trade is a no-brainer

I disagree. At the moment, Barron is one of our best F prospects outside the NHL. We have depth in the D pipeline, we very much don't at C

You obviously don’t watch WJC or college hockey. Helleson is absolutely beast mixing out, I wouldn’t trade Helleson for Foote straight up, but you somehow think Foote is worth Helleson, Kaut (who is a 1st rd pick just starting his elc) and another 1st rd pick. The Lightning take that trade run, it is a ridiculous overpayment

It’s not even a realistic trade and would never happen. Foote is a great fit on the lightning and will be for years to come. The lightning have absolutely no desire to trade him. I bet the avs have no interest in trading Helleson either. I was simply agreeing with his statement that this is a ridiculous trade, neither team accepts.

Indeed my friend, not to get so political but the lightning definitely get the better package in that trade.
Ik Foote is great and all but come on, it’s basically 2 1sts and hellenson

Yes but we DESPERATELY need RHD help immediately. Trading our 2nd best RHD for prospects is gonna seriously hurt us this year. This is basically the equivalent of selling, which makes no sense. Especially selling a RHD. The only bigger joke I could think of here would be trading Cernak. Let’s be clear neither Foote nor Cernak are going anywhere this year (unless the deal involves another NHL ready RHD) because of our weak RHD and they are both young prominent players.
