Habs should accept that. Unless the plan is to resign Tatar. Bennett fills a need on LW or C on the third line if Tatar and Danault walk

Not enough for Tatar and we aren’t trading him. Yes we scratched him but that was to send a message and Tatar is a core part of our lineup

Don't mean to be an @$$ but how is that even a fair trade for the Habs? I mean a center that has a -5 and is barely able to stay in the NHL with a guy that can't crack the NHL plus a 2nd round pick for a top 2nd line player..

Don't see this happening by a long shot.

A bottom 6 forward, a guy who cleared waivers, and a 2nd? Sounds fair. We aren’t trading Tatar, and especially not for this crap.

the 2nd alone should be enough. why is tatar getting healthy scratched if he's so good?

it's a more than fair trade for the habs because tatar is being healthy scratched.

tatar is a notorious playoff underperformer. bennett alone put up more playoff points last season than tatar has in 5 years. bennett has almost double the career playoff points of tatar, despite playing less games. like it or not grit comes with a premium price tag too.

tatar is 30 and a ufa at the end of the season. while bennett is 24 and a rfa with another year of team control at the end of this season. bennet comes at half the price of tatar.

on top of that you're adding a 2nd round pick

Because it’s call time management when you have a good roster, 😉
It’s also help you to see your options for the futur with cap space issues.
IMO i’ll keep tatar and trade his right at the draft for a 4th or 5th pick in 2021 to the team that would want to be first in the run for tatar

And
I get your point that bennett play better in playoff than tatar

And it’s a very great point since we want to win now and we have toffoli to replace tatar in mid term

But tatar in calgary won’t help us fr, same for calgary with bennett in mtl
