Skjei is a nice to have but it isn’t good asset management to trade a very capable top 4 LHD for a 35+ goalie with one year of a high cap hit. MAF is doing good now but statistically older goalies don’t stay that way.

Its 3 years of term for 1 essentially when skjei can be replaced impact wise by bean and/or fleury as soon as next season, the cap in 2022 will be huge for fleury and the 2nd line

MAF has a very real chance of being really bad next year. 35+ year old goalies typically fall off a cliff statistically.

The argument here is acquiring MAF as the problem not trading away Skjei.

MAF isn't a typical goalie, and its not like he has to carry a full starter load with mrazek here, hes a luxury in goal as skjei is a luxury on D

I really don't want to lose Skjei, and don't like the idea of having over $10mil tied up in the goaltending position - I just don't see Tulsky finding that worthwhile.

The cap space they get in 2022 would be what the canes are in it for
