Contract limit, they are now at 46/50 instead of 48/50. Basically this gives them a lot more TDL flexibility

I wonder if Korshkov decided to stay in the KHL? Might have had something to do with it. As well it clears a contract. Probably more to this than we see. Hopefully Gally does well.

NO IT DOESNT DUBAS IS IN LOVE WITH THE KHL HE'LL IMPORT JUST ABOUT ANYONE (Mikheyev, Barabanov, Lehtonen). They could clear any other contract seriously, the have marincin, sabourin and a few others. Trading a former second rounder is ridiculous. Unacceptable! #FIREDUBAS

Korshkov was never going to make the leafs. How do you know how much he’s worth, I gaurantee you don’t follow the khl to track his development. They traded 2 career ahlers for a depth piece. Let’s fire out gm for an ahl move though. Our fan base has to be the dumbest in the league.

But there's a belief that Korshkov is not leaving the KHL so if that really is the case, he's not worth much to the Leafs.

I'm not a Galchenyuk fan, never thought he was as some thought a good top six player but this move is all about moving out contracts.

I doubt Galchenyuk gets to suit up for the Leafs but I suppose if the injury dance continues, Leafs may not have a choice but to play him.

That seals the deal. I am no longer a Leafs fan. I’ve been a fan since 1967 and a season ticket holder since 1993. I officially will not be renewing my plan next season nor will I watch on tv ever again. Dubas is officially the worst gm in history.

It's a deal with 3 non nhlers, no need to get too mad about the deal. But I agree this deal makes little sense. They got a guy they could have for free, and gave up a 2nd round pick from 5 years ago. I think, as some people already said, maybe they want more contract space (50 player limit, and they leafs were at... 46 I think) or wanted to free up a logjam at left d for the marlies. Also maybe Korshkov wasn't going to play for the leafs? He could be an nhl player I think, but maybe he doesn't want to leave the khl. And finally, maybe they wanted a taxi squad guy. Who knows, maybe Galchenyuk will revive his career in Toronto when/if they play him.
