HUGE overpayment for Franson, I'm sure a 2nd would suffice, but I would think they should pursue a different Defenseman, also DAL should retain on Niemi

why do people still think Franson is any good? hard pass

he and Maatta would be the leagues slowest D pair

Franson has been extremely solid. Just because he's not scoring doesn't mean he's not good (though he has the second most points out of all Sabres dmen). + 1, 100.7 PDO with 54.4% Defensive zone starts. Even Corsi and Fenwick. He's been one of the more consistent Sabres defensemen.

He would still be a 3rd pairing at best with the pens though. You dont give up that much for a third pairing dman with only 1 year left.

So you want Dallas to take a worthless player to your team right now and then retain cap on a worthless player to their team and then give you a cheap 23 year old defenseman when they are struggling on the blueline? That makes zero sense.
