Granlund Is The Mystery Winger

Created by: BogoNorris
Initial Creation Date: Feb 16, 2021
Published: Feb 16 at 2:22
Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Team Explanation
According to Friedman:

- Leafs tried trading for Granlund in the offseason, but the Leafs are still looking for a top 6 winger (had Granlund on paper)

- Galchenyuk is to replace Vesey

TELL ME THIS IS NOT A GOOD LOOKING TEAM (if they can make the cap work - Bennett retention )

He said that the Leafs were actually trying to trade for Granlund in the offseason, but also indicated that the Leafs are still finding a top 6 winger. At the same time, he implicitly mentioned that Granlund was written on the piece of paper

This team looks great, you just need to reverse both trades to fix it.

thats not what he said, he said Granlund is a winger he Thinks....key word, he thinks, they would consider, since they had interest in him during the summer as He was a Free Agent but had no way had the cap space for him. Just like how probably half a dozen teams or more had interest in him as a Free Agent this summer

Huh, I find it funny how you said in the ACGM I made earlier that Granlund is another Kerfoot.

If he’s name was Russian/Finnish/Swedish he would have already been run out of town already.

had a bad game it happens. Other than this game he was playing much better than last season. Keefe probs gave him the talk and he should be straightened out for Wednesday

no he did not actually say it, said he thinks Leafs are still in the market for a Top 6 winger, he thinks Granlund is someone they would be interested in if the Preds did sell if they cant turn things around as Leafs had some interest in him this offseason as a free agent (like half the league did. He was just word shopping and idea

This makes no sense. Granny didn't sign a UFA contract until about a week before the camps opened up.

I could see TOR being interested in him as a UFA signing last offseason but they didn't have the cap.

Trade for Granlund during the off-season? He was a UFA and didn't resign with NSH until the season basically started.

I'd consider this trade though. I might prefer to just get a 1st rounder from a team for Granlund retained, but NSH is pretty weak on RHD depth so Liljegren could be a nice addition.

Grandlund trade maybe. But again the silliness of trying to make Bennett a competent 3C. He isn't that at all.

First off, the Leafs won't be able to afford Kerfoot AND Granlund without salary retention, and if you knew more about Bennett, he is playing a top 6 role and scored two goals in 5 games

If you know more about Bennett the Flames are weak at centre took Lindholm from the wing to centre cause Bennett couldn't crack their top three centres.
Your love of Bennett and hate of Kerfoot for on ice performance is unfounded. Gee you made on OK trade, for you that's a winning streak.

I wouldn't be complaining if the Leafs hadn't traded Kadri for Kerfoot

Well if that was the entire deal, I would agree with you. Check the facts and time of the trade and you might realize why the Leafs made the deal. You still might not like it, but it certainly wasn't Kerfoot for Kadri.

he just selective read Friedman's words and come up with this 4D chess scenario, Friedman said leafs are still looking for a top 6 winger, and that Leafs were interested in him this offseason as a UFA, as half the league was. The next post in his 31 thoughts is that if Preds dont turn it around the math is goign to be hard for them to overcome and they have pieces to sell that teams will call about.

Bennett hasn't been a Centre for a few seasons now, anyone who is putting him at 3C haven't been paying any attention to him or his usage. Hes a bottom 6 winger, thats his role

Kerfoot to Bennett is a major downgrade for 3C
