possible lines tonight

Description
Leo sent to taxi squad, so its likely wahlstrom is in the lineup. Pretty good looking lineup IMO.

I also think pulock and wahlstrom should switch PP units. Wahlstrom's one timer is better than pulocks and I think barzal +dobson feeding him passes would be fun to watch.

I love the idea of Wahlstrom on PP1. Or really on any power play.

I'd switch MDC and Beau, but for tonight I'm into this. I'd be very interested to see Pageau and Beau together, they seem like they'd fit perfectly together. That's a killer 3rd line you have there.

I'm assuming you have Pelech and Leddy mixed up by accident here also.

I really liked wahlstroms poise on the PP last night. He had 3 sabres in close proximity and instead of throwing the puck deep , he made a nice saucer pass to Bailey which gave him a 2 on 1 scenario.

I would probably put beau on nelsons line. That line with eberle can be our most dynamic line, but on the other hand giving wahlstrom two speed and skill players to work with can lead to that line scoring a lot of goals.

Yeah didn't mean to do that lol

So aggravating theres no room for Bellows. 26-44-20 was so much fun to watch that game against philly.

Yeah , that line had an over an 80% xg%. They were very good. Kind of tough to take MDC out of the lineup with the way he’s playing. I would scratch Martin and put MDC on the 4th line. Bellows wasn’t putting up points because he needs someone to get him the puck. Ideal lines IMO:

Lee-barzal-wahlstrom
Beau-Nelson-eberle
Bellows-pageau-bailey
MDC-cizikas-clutter

I like wahlstrom on the third line with the two French Canadians. Pageau is heating up at the right time. Bailey is finally making plays up top it seems that everything is coming together for now I got nothing to complain about.

Pageau has been great since wahlstrom joined him, they are able to sustain pressure in the ozone. I would switch beau and Bailey if beau is able to play on his offside.

Bailey’s revived his old chemistry with Lee, so I’m happy to keep him in the 1st line.

Beau looked good on the third line, and honestly, I’m fine with him playing more sheltered minutes coming back from his injury, especially since his start was so lackluster.

MDC’s been solid, sure, but his presence in the middle six isn’t transformative per se, it’s just better than his usual stuff. I’d say make him our dedicated 4LW, have Martin and Clutterbuck cycle in and out on the other wing as they get tired or go cold.

Bellows looked awesome when he played. No reason he should be scratched right now.

Anyway, here’s my lineup:

Lee-Barzal-Bailey
Bellows-Nelson-Eberle
Beau-Pageau-Wahlstrom
MDC-Cizikas-Martin/Clutterbuck

Yeah but that 1st line is still getting outplayed with Bailey - he's been better the past few games, but he can't keep up with Barzal.

Yeah I thought the beau-pageau-wahlstrom line had some good looks last night. You can tell wahlstrom is trying to prove to trotz he can play a responsible defensive game and so far its working. He knows that if he makes one bad turnover, he'll be a healthy scratch. So far through 8 games, wahlstrom has 3 takeaways, only 2 giveaways and leads all isles forwards in expected goals %

I agree and he wasn't even put in a position to succeed on the 3rd line. Bellows needs someone to get him the puck.

I include Bailey in the lines because, they won't scratch him. I think it's worth it to give Bellows an extended look, but they're not gonna do it for Bailey.

I'd also love to see Czarnik get a shot on the fourth line, but they won't do it unless someone gets hurt.

Would be interested to see if they move someone like Bailey before the trade deadline to make another trade for a first line winger. They won't but it would be interesting.

It will never happen, but I’d love to see beau-barzal-wahlstrom. That line had 1 shift together last night and they were fun to watch

MDC has been solid and his underlying numbers are good as well. He’s the one preventing bellows from getting into the lineup

I really like the way MDC has been playing, he's been creating a ton of chances. I'd just like to see him convert on more of them. There have been people suggesting he take Martins spot at 4LW (Trotz would also never do that, so its a waste of time), which he could do right now, cause he's responsible on defense and forechecks hard. But I think he deserves a shot in the middle 6 to see if he can start converting on the chances.

MDC is like a very very poor mans Mark stone lol. Not a bad thing at all, I can see MDC as the best player on the 4th line or the 3rd best player on the 2nd line. I really want to see bellows in the lineup, but I’m pretty happy that MDC is starting to figure it out.

The lesson here is if you want to find out what you have in a prospect ,don’t put him with grinders. MDC role on the 2nd line against top competition is an easier role than last year on the 3rd line with replacement level players.

Hopefully the next time bellows gets into the lineup they put him on a line with a playmaker
