Some info for the Leafs fans here

Description
People who keep trading Kerfoot and Engvall for rentals - stop it.

For the expansion draft, Leafs need to have two surplus forwards that are under contract for 2021-22 season and have played 54 games this and the last year combined. They will be left unprotected to fulfill the exposure requirement rule. Currently, Leafs have only 6 forwards to fill this rule - Matthews, Marner, Tavares, Nylander, Kerfoot and Engvall.

Now if you guys don't want to lose Nylander to Seattle, don't move these guys without bringing another forward under contract for next year back in your trades.

Thank you.

Also, these are the lines that I would use when everyone's healthy. Dunno if they're any good, but I'd like to see something different.

Exactly

If Dubas was to trade for someone it would be someone with 2 year term like Muzzin

Thats why I think Dubas is gonna trade for Rakell

2 year term, could be a fit for our 3rd line and we got the assets to get him while the ducks can retain salary.

than during expansion

Matthews
Marner
Tavares
Nylander
Rakell
Hyman (probs getting early extension)
Mikheyev

Rielly
Muzzin
Brodie

Campbell

I would play Nylander at C before I did Galchenyuk. I say that you either go back to the old lines of AM with Nylander and Marner with JT, or you put Nylander on a 3rd line himself, away from JT. Or keep it the same.

He isn't, there isn't going to be a trade for a forward. Robertson and Simmonds will be the additions.

Just to add what JustaBoss wrote. Leafs (and all teams) should just make trades that improve the team. Seems like so many like to trade a top 9 forward or top 6 Dman without a viable replacement.

Mikheyev's exempt.

Also Hyman might agree to new contract but signing will be delayed, so in effect the Leafs can protect another player.

But Simmons is UFA too, there is no urgency to sign him pre expansion draft.

Just protect Anderson and/or Brooks.

I'm thinking 4 and 4 especially if Bogosian and Lehtonen could be lost as UFA. Hyman and Simmons might be motivated to stay in hometown Toronto, and sign post expansion.

I was honestly thinking 4 and 4 is smart as u protect the big 4 than Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, and Holl. Move Dermott before the expansion and seattle takes Kerfoot.

I wouldn't move Dermot....if he's selected, so be it. Rather keep all the NHL Dman you can. I wouldn't necessarily want to lose Kerfoot either, but if he is selected that's 3.5m in cap space to find another centre.

There's no game requirement to prevent from protection or getting picked.

The 26 game requirement thing the site shows means that Brooks and Anderson would have to play 26 games so they can fill the exposure requirement.

Exposure requirement means that every team must leave at least 2 forwards and one defenseman that has played 27 games the prior year or 54 games two prior years combined for Seattle to pick. This is applied in order to prevent SEA from getting left with nothing but AHL players. And only Kerfoot and Engvall from the Leafs, with the core forwards, fill this rule for now. Which was the whole point of this post lol.

Rackell isn't going to happen and from what you propose, it would cost us Holl which is a way bigger loss than Rackell's addition.
