Shattenkirk isn't what Ottawa needs imo. Especially if that's the price.

i think hed be a pretty nice piece next to chabot tbf, not that zaitsev has been a problem this year but shattenkirks a pretty stable all-around dman that i think could let chabot do what he does (still mad we traded demelo). I think the only real piece of value the sens give up is the TB second, odds are dzingel doesnt sign here at the end of the year and hes probably only gonna be a 4lw for us and a pp guy, and i think we have better pieces than chlapik and davidsson in the system anyways. Could definitely turn into another stepanesque deal tho but hes got some term at a reasonable price tag and honeslty ive just always been a fan of his

He might be an improvement over Zaitsev (though Zaitsev hasn't really been a problem this year), but it's not Zaitsev he's going to be replacing. Zaitsev is gonna be here for probably another two years at least, and with Zub's emergence so will he in all likelihood. Gotta look forward if you're going to make a deal for a player with term. He'd be better than Gudbranson this year (assuming DJ would bench Gudbranson not Zub), but beyond this year, the player being pushed out is Jacob Bernard-Docker. JBD is ready to go imo, and adding a guy who will make his path forward more difficult isn't a good idea, especially when the Sens still need to sign him.
