Can't see Malkin waiving for that.

Honestly it's either gonna be a top contender or Florida since his family lives there.

No dog in this fight. You're WAY over valuing Malkin. He's like 4 years older and on the decline, with a massive caphit. Couture straight up isn't enough, but it's not even close to 2, 1st rounders worth of a difference.

I get that malkin was a legend for you guys and it would hurt to see him go, but holy crap man, this would be the biggest steal for the penguins. There’s no question malkin has had the better career, but there’s also no question that couture is just a way way way better player right now. Malkin kind of looks lost out there. Couture is four years younger? Something like that. He’s cheaper, and if things go south down the road his contract is relatively simple to buy out.

Such a good deal for the penguins.

I think couture straight up is a significant overpay.

He's having a really good season so far, so maybe. Regardless, Malkin isn't worth a kings ransom, I think we can all agree on that.

It totally is.

Couture is 31 and will make 8M a year for 6 years after this year, that requires a 1st just for taking his contract.
On top of that, he's not as good as Malkin, that adds another 1st rounder. Even then, it's not a great trade for the Pens

Id see that as fair. Malkin on a new team could probably reinvigorate him.

It's a terrible deal for the Pens lmao. Couture is 31 and is locked into a terrible contract, this makes no sense at all for the Pens. If Malkin was to be traded at all, it'd be for picks and prospects.

The rest of the league has pro scouts. They’ve seen malkin play. There aren’t any grand offers of picks coming. He’s been bad. Coutures contract isn’t great, but he’s a good player today, cheaper than malkin, and much much younger. Malkin will be 36 when his deal is up right? Late 35? Couture will be 36 i think.

He is a better player than malkin right now. That’s inescapable

If a soon to be 35 year old Malkin is worth Couture and 2 1sts, TO should trade Thornton to someone for an unprotected 1st! That is how ridiculous you sound.

It would be a big overpay IMO with Malkin for Couture straight up, but the fact that Couture's deal ends when he's 38 is what evens it up (short term gain for long term loss).
